I use it for work by choice, it's fine. We can use Chrome, Edge or Firefox. Edge is basically a clone of Chrome but it integrates better with our MS account & applications and it seems to be better optimized for Windows 11.

Holy title gore...
Just how did you write that and not notice how badly you fucked it up?

[–] Bongles@lemmy.zip 21 points 1 week ago

If I'm forced to, then it's not my device and not my problem.

Ehh, if I am being forced it's because it's for work. So it's only work passwords. Seems more like their problem. I would suggest or ask to change, if refused it's on them.

If an org is at the point where they are forcing you to only use edge then they should already know the many, many, many issues with inbuilt password managers and will already be providing a corporate password solution.

[–] irelephant@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So long as you don't reuse passwords, that should be fine.

[–] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Why would I reuse a personal password at work? My personal passwords are for important things like shitposting accounts.

Most people use the same password for everything

Add a spell checker extension

Unpopular opinion here, for sure, but I use it voluntarily for all work stuff when I’m at home. It’s not as bad as you might think. I never use it for personal stuff, for that I use librewolf and chromium when librewolf doesn’t work, like webusb. I don’t want any work/life cross contamination between cookies and history, and different browsers seems to work well enough for me.

You could also use separate librewolf/chromium profiles. Shortcuts are helpful for commonly used profiles.

I use it at work, voluntarily. We have a choice of Chrome or Edge, and I hate Chrome more than I hate Edge. There are some built-in nice features, like workspaces and side tabs which are really convenient when you need to switch between dozens of tasks.

First mistake is using windows at all when you seem to have options.

[–] BestBouclettes@jlai.lu 3 points 1 week ago

Well, no I don't. It's windows or windows at work. I'm lucky enough to have WSL, but using Firefox through WSL is a hassle (proxy, extensions, DPI, etc.) . So Edge works fine for me.

I am forced to use edge at work. Pity me.

On my work owned computer I use edge by choice. All the software I use for work is microslop anyway. So its more integrated and faster for that. I have a KVM and my personal laptop with Linux that I use for all personal stuff and slacking off. No personal data touches that work computer.

Smash my computer and move into the woods

[–] ohlaph@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

I literally only use it at work because they force it. I delete it on everything else because it's terrible.

redacted-1redacted-2 a Microsoft datacenter, probably

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

What do you mean if? I already am for some things.

Use edge only for things that need it. Use Firefox for everything else.

I'd sing With or Without You

[–] BananaPeal@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

I prefer Edge at work. We can choose between that or Chrome, but add-ons are blocked and Edge syncs my bookmarks between computers automatically. I work IT, so jumping between computers is frequent. Edge isn't horrible, it just isn't great.

It’s fine I just install uBlock and cope

[–] Geodes_n_Gems@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 week ago

Switch to a Linux distro that doesn't have .deb support, I can't install it then. & if I still have to use it I guess I'll just not use the net until the death of Microsoft, IDK if I could hold out that long but maybe with determination I could.

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 week ago

Never use a web browser again. I'd be somewhat fine with upgrading every single package by CLI ( AKA no appimages ever again ) or finding out about everything new by going through videos instead.

[–] chirayu_alias@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 week ago

If I were forced to use Edge, I'd fall off it

They tried to force me to use Edge at work but I downloaded Brave browser. It lets you install it without having admin rights. It asks you for them but just say no and continue.
