FAQ

"How much does traveling cost?"

Cost of living(rent, utilities, data/wifi, groceries) is $500 USD per month for most countries, up to $1000 for most others.

"Health care and insurance?"

Health care and insurance abroad are both pennies on the US dollar for the highest quality of medical care

"What about visas?"

You usually don't need them; when necessary, visas are almost all entirely online: a fifteen minute e-form and nominal fee offset in your first day by the drastically lower cost of living abroad.

"How do you make money while abroad?"

Any job that nets you $500+ a month works. There are almost 2 billion English students globally right now, so native English speakers have lucked into a guaranteed job on or offline.

"What qualifications do I need as an English teacher?"

Some countries and schools require a TEFL certificate or prefer candidates with an associate's degree depending on the position, but if you want to teach English, all you need is to be a fluent English speaker.

Pretty sure this Mongolian bar is the first one I've seen.

Huh, looks the same, very subtle change, just a little sweeter/vanilla maybe mixed in?

Wait, is it frozen candy bar or ice cream flavored room temperature candy bar?

[–] bitofarambler@crazypeople.online 3 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

This one's just normal, but I've been thinking about how good an actual ice cream one would be for the last 2 hours now.

[–] Tikiporch@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

We have those in the USA (because of course we have those). They're pretty good from what I remember, but it's been a long time since I had one.

I'll try one today and get back to you.

Cool, I'm interested in your take. Its an extremely subtle but noticeable flavor difference imo.

Cinnamon-sugar cookies 'n cream deep-fried corn dog ice cream snickers bar with sprinkles and chocolate/cheese dipping sauce.

[–] kamenlady@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Cool, thanks. This wrapper looks more fun but sort of set me up for disappointment when it looks the exact same as OG

[–] mcforest@feddit.org 2 points 2 weeks ago

Almost always sold out when they are on sale...

[–] Sendpicsofsandwiches@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I haven't looked for it in a while but we've definitely at least HAD it here in the US

[–] tophneal@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago

We still have them. The gas station down the street has a box of them in their ice cream cooler.

[–] bitofarambler@crazypeople.online 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It rang a bell but I do not have a clear memory of trying it. Did you like it?

[–] Sendpicsofsandwiches@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Those things were fuckin great. My grandma would bring them home, then me and my brother would descend upon them like predatory animals.

Feed the beasts!

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah. I used to eat so many of these

[–] bitofarambler@crazypeople.online 2 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Nice, I stopped eating a ton of candy sometime back but if I see something interesting it's fun to try.

What do you think this flavor profile difference is from regular Snickers?

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] bitofarambler@crazypeople.online 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Wait is yours actual ice cream!?

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah. Snickers ice-cream. Is yours just ice cream flavour? That's bizarre

[–] bitofarambler@crazypeople.online 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yes, it's just an ice-cream flavored normal snickers bar. Real ice cream sounds better.

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 1 points 2 weeks ago

They were crack to me as a kid

[–] Pandantic@midwest.social 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The only big difference in the US is the nougat is ice cream (and the chocolate layer is thinner). I like the ice cream better than nougat, so I like them better.

[–] bitofarambler@crazypeople.online 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Like a snicker made from actual ice cream? Because that sounds unbelievable. I'm pretty sure they just added vanilla/white chocolate flavoring to the nougat here.

[–] whats_a_lemmy@midwest.social 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Peanut butter ice cream? Huhhhh i don't know - okay yea i just tasted it again - okay, I was trying to differentiate the ice cream from the nougt flavor but okay yea.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

My country invented ice cream snickers. And regular snickers. 🤷‍♂️

Wait... An ice cream flavored snickers? I was thinking the actual ice cream ones in the freezer. Not a regular candy bar. Maybe we don't have those... 🤔

I believe the actual ice cream Snickers were causing my bell to ring earlier, like maybe i had those as a kid? But this is the first ice-cream flavored Snickers for me, i think.

[–] Natanael@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Exists in Sweden, along with some other brands

[–] bitofarambler@crazypeople.online 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Ice cream is a popular flavor among different candy bars in Sweden?

[–] Natanael@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

The ones in Sweden are actual ice creams, with taste and style of Snickers, Mars, or some other brands. Not super common but bigger stores tend to have them regularly

[–] bitofarambler@crazypeople.online 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh hot DAMN. Welp. I will be checking the local ice ceeam sections carefully now, thank you for the heads up.

[–] Natanael@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Just added a link showing what we have here

That looks goood, that will be tomorrow's mission. I've set a reminder

[–] Gosplan14_the_Third@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, you can buy them in Germany. As for the taste... they're fine.

I think regular Snickers taste just fine and these don't exactly seem like a drastic departure from that flaaaavah

[–] makeshiftreaper@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh shit, those were a top tier camp snack as a kid. I haven't seen one since my youth but I'd bet they're still at movie theaters

Movie theaters, good call, I didn't think of that. I might go see MK2 in the imax here next week

[–] MeetMeAtTheMovies@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yes. Gas station ice cream is my vice

/Powerrrrrr!!!

[–] LENINSGHOSTFACEKILLA@hexbear.net 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
