I would love for someone to show a realistic and viable path for this project, but at this pointin time, CA's high speed rail is effectively vaporware. There's literally zero proof to the contrary.
Not sure if that means anything. The big dig near mean jumped in price several times as did the scope but its a massive success and im so glad we have it. I remember that tunnel on the east coast (I want to say boston) that was considered a boondogle but once it opened its value was very apparent.
I grew up in CA; they were pumping the HSR plan when I was in high school over 20 years ago (FUCK I was in high school over 20 years ago 🙃). There has been almost no development of the project whatsoever since then.
I want it to happen, and it would be a great thing for the state, but I’ll believe it when I see it. I wish I could be more optimistic about it, but jesus fuck the nimbyism is out of fucking control in CA.
