At this point I don't care what the icons look like, just that they stop changing them for a minute.

Normally I'd agree but google had a real problem with "everything is a simple red-yellow-blue-green outline" for a while so it's been a long walk to get them to have actually distinct appearances.

These ones are good. Now just don't change them.

Hah I was just thinking the opposite. It is nnice that they keep thongs fresh with new designs.

I feel like the only work Google does on Android is changing how things look.

Come now, they also put decent efforts into eroding the privacy and openness of the platform too.

I'm not buying you privacy. We have privacy at home!

Privacy at home: Google VPN

Great redesign. The icons finally look distinct enough to differentiate them at a glance.

The Tasks icon looks like someone sat on it though.

I didn't realise until now that the Drive icon combines the colours of Docs, Sheets and Slides. Clever icon.

They also fit in great with Material Design 3 which is distinguishing itself from iOS very well.

I'm actively trying to DeGoogle but I won't pretend this isn't good design.

The gradients have been added to improve the privacy of the applications, and to enable side-loading across all the platforms. Thanks Google.

Weak, but deserved sarcasm. I'm so incredibly sick of Google's superficial changes for the sake of "change" modus operandi. This won't matter, but they're regularly breaking long-established workflows with other changes, and marketing them as "improvements" when it's really just mostly unnecessary bullshit. I hope the forthcoming Moto GraphineOS phones are both good and affordable.

I get depressed knowing I use Google products.

Android finally started to have a pretty unified look with everything being Material3 and people understanding how to follow the guidelines but we're going to have another "gradually redesign everything" so it's a mess for couple of years.

[–] THB@lemmy.ml 8 points 6 days ago

Great that they're distinct again but why do they have to be so ugly

[–] Outdated4134@piefed.zip 8 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Wtf they're going backwards with calendar?

[–] SpaceXplorer_8042@lemmy.zip 2 points 6 days ago

Actually like that they're going back. This looks more like a calendar

[–] lengau@midwest.social 2 points 5 days ago

Why does Google Forms look like Microsoft Teams?

[–] Pxtl@lemmy.ca 4 points 6 days ago

I mean they actually look different from each other so that's good

[–] SolidShake@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

I have to use Google for work. I'm glad they're not all squares lmao.

[–] hperrin@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 days ago

That’s so much better than the last redesign.

[–] Crit@lemmy.wtf 1 points 6 days ago

Is the grey blue the Gemini moulding over products?

[–] philodendron 1 points 6 days ago

Not a fan of the new google tasks icon but the rest were long needed

Design trends are a circle.
