Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Although as a potential bisexual gf, I don't know if I'd be assigned to someone by the government, or if I'd get my own bisexual gf

The only way this can be done is if everyone becomes a bisexual gf and is then assigned to someone else. And when everyone's a bisexual gf...

...no one will be

[–] EggInDisguise@lemmy.blahaj.zone 38 points 2 weeks ago

First I found a bisexual girlfriend

Then I became the bisexual girlfriend.

Checkmate, capitalists.

[–] Pollo_Jack@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago

Our bisexual gf, comrade.

[–] GalacticSushi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 2 weeks ago

Resistance is futile. All will be assimilated into the universal bisexual gf polycule.

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 6 points 2 weeks ago

That’s not true. We will be sharing, comrade.

[–] lena@gregtech.eu 4 points 2 weeks ago

I propose we split up NYC into about 2861543 polycules of 3 people, each with one man and two bisexual gfs to solve this conundrum.

[–] DickFiasco@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

Can't be bisexual if it's all girls

[–] azolus@slrpnk.net 43 points 2 weeks ago

From each according to their ability to each according their needs.

Smh

Because nobody drives in New York. Too much traffic for it.

I don't live in NYC, but I suppose I could if I had somewhere to stay 🤔

[–] CptEnder@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Well I am a socialist... I do love a good housing program.

[–] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

A pet, you say? Do I get a collar?

[–] CptEnder@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Unironically one of my favorite things to shop for a partner, especially subtle, public use ones with concealed locks.

Phew, those are nice. Now that's a gift that would make a girl's knees buckle

[–] Klear@quokk.au 4 points 2 weeks ago

Just wait for your assignment.

[–] SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org 3 points 2 weeks ago

Now it's become NYB.

[–] RadioEthiopiate@lemmy.zip 20 points 2 weeks ago

I saw the clip. He did say no. Then the dude asking says something like "then why are we here?" and I wholeheartedly agree.

[–] DmMacniel@feddit.org 17 points 2 weeks ago

Mamdani, you were the chosen one!

[–] Gaja0@lemmy.zip 17 points 2 weeks ago

4chan seemingly unironically thought a second Trump term would bring legally mandated gfs. Obviously, take it with a grain of salt, but I sincerely believe in their lack of mental health and stability for it not to just be weird trolling.

[–] germanatlas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 weeks ago

He fell off 😔

[–] FreddiesLantern@leminal.space 7 points 2 weeks ago

I mean, think of how much lower the production cost must be since you can just make one model sexual that you can use for multiple applications.

The people in accounting will be so proud!

[–] kibiz0r@midwest.social 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Well obviously there's a second barber

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Some New Yorkers must make do with straight or gay girlfriends due to supply issues

[–] QuinnyCoded@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

Wtf, why did I vote for this guy then??

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 0 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)
