3 weeks from now

Nintendo has announced the new Switch 2 TM head strap! Now your little brother can be the controller.

That'd make Super Smash Bros a lot more fun to play, honestly.

If you don't have a Steam Deck head strap, are you even a real fan?

[–] thingsiplay@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 weeks ago

Man the Steam Deck surprises me still, after all those years.

I don't even want to know the context of this

I think this was just a silly promo shoot to depict some absurd things that you could hypothetically accomplish with the Mechanism Deckmate ecosystem.

Not that anyone would realistically want to do any of that. It is just illustrating how it is such a versatile ecosystem that you could do any of these things if you actually needed to for some reason.

mine sadly died recently so I've not been using it at all 😭

[–] Midnitte@beehaw.org 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Might be able to repair it depending in whats wrong

[–] Luminous5481@anarchist.nexus 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

ah, well it was charged up with a full battery and working and then it was just dead. won't come on again and the charging LED does not light up anymore despite different cords and adapters being tried. pretty sure it's a dead motherboard.

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 8 points 2 weeks ago

I think that's a relatively common issue that can be fixed by resetting the battery. I think it starts by loading it for a day even when the indicator isn't lighting up.

Look it up, I might be wrong.

Try putting it forcibly into battery storage mode:

With the Deck turned off and plugged into the charger, hold down Volume Up+⋯ ("Three Dots" button under the right touchpad) for 10 seconds, and then unplug the Deck to enter Battery Storage Mode. On LCD models the LED will then flash 3 times, on OLED models the LED will blink blue twice.

After that, plug it back in, and it will hopefully turn on. Some people have had luck reviving a non-responsive deck this way when nothing else has worked.

[–] Luminous5481@anarchist.nexus 1 points 2 weeks ago

no, that doesn't do anything. the LED hasn't lit up for anything since it died.

[–] GnerphBaht@sopuli.xyz 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Mine decided it wanted to have a spicy pillow. I can see the backplate bulging a tad. It's been unplugged since December now.

[–] Luminous5481@anarchist.nexus 7 points 2 weeks ago

well at the very least you can still use it, just get that battery out.

The head mount would be useful for Work Time Fun emulation:

On a plane, the head mount goes backwards on the head of the passenger seated in front of you. Great for relieving wrist strain
