That is the Sumerian cuneiform sign Dingir 𒀭, which is the word goddess or god, but is not pronounced. It is used like a marker that the proceeding sign(s) are the name of a deity. For example, 𒀭𒈹 is the symbol for the goddess Inanna and 𒀭𒂗𒆠 is the symbol for the god Enki.
