so unscrew it. why is this such a huge problem?

[–] elucubra@sopuli.xyz 12 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Because screwdrivers are regulated, screwdriver licenses are hard to obtain, and while most people can do the clockwise thing, counterclockwise is a skill that takes years to master.

Because this is mildly infuriating not huge fucking problems?

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

I was just struck by 'mounted a spice rack into the fucking studs' like it's been welded down. is that even mildly infuriating? pfft.

that's an easy fix trust me I have so much mildly infuriating shit in my life

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

load bearing spices actually sounds like a pretty slick band name

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 24 points 4 days ago

What you don't have a screwdriver?

[–] Luminous5481@anarchist.nexus 35 points 4 days ago

If only there was some kind of solution to be found.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 97 points 4 days ago (3 children)

I think OP knows they can unscrew it.

That's probably why it's only 'mildly' infuriating.

[–] TemplaerDude@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I dunno, it’s kinda weird that they mention it’s “into the studs” as if it makes it a load-bearing spice rack. Just a weirdly irrelevant thing to say, makes me suspicious that OP thinks anything screwed into studs has to stay there forever or the house falls down.

[–] Cataphract@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 days ago

I imagined it was because they wanted to use the fridge as a battering ram to knock it out of the wall or simply rip it down with their bare hands but alas the studs won out.

[–] ZoteTheMighty@lemmy.zip 21 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The endless stream of repeated "unscrew it" comments is also mildly infuriating.

[–] sem@piefed.blahaj.zone 11 points 4 days ago

You mean mildly hilarious

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

This post is mildly infuriating. Unscrewing it is not even an “easy fix” it’s just plain and simple what you do.

I loved this so much I went into your profile and upvoted some other comments.

[–] Nomorereddit@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago

I love you, let's run away together.

[–] tiredofsametab@fedia.io 45 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Unscrew it. Throw it away. Keep your spices away from light and air.

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

But it’s in the studs /s

[–] needanke@feddit.org 46 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Maybe it's just tge perspective, but it looks like you could unscrew it, move the fridge in and then put it back in.

[–] 0li0li@lemmy.world 17 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Probably can't open the freezer with it in the way, or real close lol

At least you can unscrew it. My landlord put the pipe for the Lüftung where the fridge is supposed to go.

[–] Dicska@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Oh no, not the Lüftung again!

Step 1: Re-hinge the fridge doors so they open the other way.

Step 2: Back the fridge into the corner first, then pivot to the right until seated.

You can tell by the cabinetry, they had a fridge in there already, possibly one taller than this.

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 20 points 4 days ago

Just screw it.

Start with some wine, maybe a back rub. Get it all relaxed and then just slide into it

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 22 points 4 days ago (3 children)

This is clearly a load bearing spice rack.

Buy it, use it, break it, fix it, trash it, change it, mail, upgrade it Charge it, point it, zoom it, press it, snap it, work it, quick, erase it Write it, cut it, paste it, save it, load it, check it, quick, rewrite it Plug it, play it, burn it, rip it, drag it, drop it, zip, unzip it

I mean, just unscrew the screws?

[–] kbobabob@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 4 days ago (3 children)

I dunno man. Sounds mildly infuriating to have to go get a screwdriver, come back and try unscrewing it only to realize you need a power tool because it is in the studs. Go get the drill, damnit battery is dead. Damnit extra battery is dead because I hardly use this damn thing.

And the fridge is just a hair too tall to slide under the vent hood, so you can’t even go around it.

There’s so many things that are mildly infuriating here. And taken all together…. Still mildly infuriating.

Quality post. I’m gonna kick back and be grateful I don’t have any appliances to move in my near future.

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 12 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

Putting the oven right up against the fridge is the real problem here.

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 8 points 4 days ago (4 children)

I have no idea what I'm doing. Please say what you mean.

Just tilt the fridge backwards before moving it in.

[–] Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 4 days ago (4 children)

What are they cooking with they need to put that into a stud? Was it common for them to set their tungsten rolling pin atop and then hang their lead apron from the edge? Did they have a recipe that calls for a pinch of neutron star?

[–] InvalidName2@lemmy.zip 26 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Mounting your spice rack to the studs is just sage advice. Otherwise, you're putting the structural integrity at risk, and if that fails, you're in for a bad thyme. Trust me, this happened to me once. There was still paprika in my grout when I moved out. And to add salt to the wound, the landlord made me pay for the damage.
