3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

The U.S. military vowed to blockade all Iranian ports starting Monday, part of efforts to force Tehran into agreeing to open the crucial Strait of Hormuz and accepting a peace deal. Iran responded with threats on all ports in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, taking aim at U.S.-allied countries.

That set the stage for an extraordinary showdown that contains serious risks for the global economy and raises the specter that a ceasefire that is currently holding could collapse and the war could resume. Talks aimed at permanently ending the conflict — which began Feb. 28 with U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran — finished without an agreement this weekend, and there has been no word on whether negotiations will resume.

US military is poised to TACO Tuesday!

Or

Enter Player 4 - China has joined the game!

I love a good taco, but I also have a lawnchair and case of beer ready in case we kick of WWIII and I want to watch the impossibly bright lights.

🎵🎶

And the band played on

As the helicopters whirred

Drunk on the lawn in a nuclear dawn

My senses finely ~~blurred~~ burned 🎵🎶

Remember to wear welding shields or use pinhole cameras to watch the fallout! Enjoy the end, safely.

You misunderstand. If we get impossibly bright light fireworks, I don't want to shield myself from them. Considering what comes next, I want to ~~walk~~ drunkenly stumble into the light and be free.

How poetic, but we are babies and we know why we're here.

So the US Navy is going to sink Chinese ships that cross through, huh? Genius move. That's going to work sooo well.

Russia lost its Black sea navy to a country without a navy and is currently bogged down in the 5th year of a conflict a few KM from its own borders. I don't think those Russian losers are in a position to do much right now.

They still have plenty of ships including submarines. With nuclear weapons.

[–] Lucius_Sweet@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

They have an aircraft carrier that can't go far without a tug boat in case it catches fire. The USA already showed the world in January of this year what it thinks about the Russian navy and Russian power projection. We all know that Russia has nuclear weapons because they yap about them almost every day. The USA also has nuclear weapons so I fail to see your point other than to yap about Russian nuclear weapons.

Russia is the best example of faking it until you make it as a superpower. The war with Ukraine has shown why Russia is not at the big boy table for a variety of reasons. The Ukraine war has been baffling to me as an independent observer considering the supposed discrepancy in military power pre war. How has Russia not managed to press home any of its multiple advantages? The problems go all the way to the top.

" a peace deal ". Because peace was the reason to attack Iran.

So rather than gas prices being up for awhile trump will make sure its the case for like the next 20 years. I remember people never admiting they every liked or supported nixon. I hate living in interesting times.

It's turned out to be a typical American military shitshow. Because the US Navy is scared about being attacked by the missiles and boats Trump announced they'd 100% destroyed in the beginning of March they're actually not operating in the Strait of Hormuz but in the Gulf of Oman and Indian Ocean which is a massive area far too big to remotely effectively police with the number of vessels the USN has.

Add in GPS location spoofing the ships have been doing and it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

It would be cool to see the YJ-21 in action. I hope someone takes videos
