I've yet to see someone smoking a cigarette whilst running a marathon...

If anyone could do it, it'd be the French.

But I'd like to see them try!

spoilerAs long as it's nowhere near where I'm running

The article is also short on details. How exactly do they get enough water to each runner? Are there hundreds of filling stations at each water stop? Will runners setting records, or trying to qualify, now have teams where a literal water boy carries water for you.

Easy, water hoses.

Im envisioning water tunnels where runners can run through with their bottles over their heads to refill them and get a nice dousing. Maybe with one side open so some runners can stick their arm in with the bottle and not get doused or to limit the amount of dousing. all while not breaking stride.

Ha, that'd be pretty cool to see!

Apparently they can filla whole flask in just a couple of seconds, so the delay might not be too bad if there's no lines. Though even those few seconds stopped is a big hit to momentum compared to grabbing a cup—or your idea of essentially a drinkable waterfall.

But even with the waterfall, there's still the added weight of carrying all that water with you. Not ideal.

I mean given folks drink one and splashone in the face maybe they will just look up and grab a mouth full and skip the container.
