Scientists have made a breakthrough discovery working in our next generation laboratories. It might surprise you, but what they've found is this: you need to buy the dogpill.

Is it at least shaped like a dog? If not, I'm not buying it.

For senior dogs:

LOY-002 is intended for dogs aged 10 or older and weighing at least [6kg]/14 lb. It aims to extend healthy lifespan by targeting age-associated metabolic dysfunction.

As dogs age their metabolic health declines, leading to disease and reduced lifespan. Our aim with LOY-002 is to preserve metabolic health, which we believe will delay the onset of age-associated disease and help maintain better function and quality of life.

For large dogs:

LOY-001 and LOY-003 are intended for large and giant dogs and target the over-expression of IGF-1, a hormone that we believe is associated with large dogs’ shorter lifespan relative to small dogs.

Large body size in dogs is correlated with shortened lifespan, so the larger a breed is, the shorter the average longevity of dogs in that breed. We believe that sustained higher levels of Growth Hormone and IGF-1 in larger dogs are partly responsible for shorter lifespan and the earlier development of age-associated disease and disability. Our aim for LOY-001 and LOY-003 is to address this overexpression in adult dogs with the aim of reducing age-associated diseases and extending healthy lifespan.

LOY-001 is a prescription long-acting injection for dogs 7 years or older and weighing at least [18kg]/40 lb, while LOY-003 is a prescription daily pill for dogs 5 years or older and weighing at least [27kg]/60 lb.

I'm going to check this week if the local vet that's participating has any slots. With my dog being a rescue I don't know his exact age, but he's somewhere around 8 now and 12~ is about what I expect from the breeds I suspect he is. Prolonging his life with suffering wouldn't be ethical to me so I don't want to artificially raise it to 16. It'd be nice to make the last natural ones as pain-free as possible.

5 years ago we adopted a White Shepherd that was around 8 and are really seeing her age kicking in. If this is something that helps with those age related things, I'm all for it.

We had her on librela for a while, which was great for about a year and a half before it seemed to do more harm than good. We have now pivoted to carprofen which kinda sucks due to liver damage potential but does help with her aches. The vet also thinks she's starting to sundown as well, so we're treating that with a gabapentin to relieve some of the anxiety through its sedative traits.

I'm not exactly keen on this next year because her age-related ailments all seem to be piling up lately. This turned into me ruminating on our poor old pup and recognizing her time is coming up and I'm not ready 🫤

Senior dogs in shelters have such bad outcomes that giving her another full lifetime of love on top of those 8 years is better than anything this pill could achieve. rat-salute-2

oh.. no please. my dog is 16, he's blind, he's deaf, and he is having a harder time getting around now. He poops all over and pees everywhere. He wakes me up at least twice a night on a good night to drink water and go potty.

I have a harness to walk him every day and I basically have to carry him for most of the walk to his favorite bushes all over the neighborhood.

I can't do this forever.

(If it sounds like I'm talking about you personally, I'm not, but I understand why it might feel that way. This has been a while coming, not just in response to this thread.)

I wasn't gonna effort because this is c/memes but I did a bit of digging earlier and it is very cool and interesting and it looks like the science is sound.

But I notice a people having strong reactions to this, including bringing out some really cruel self-bullying talk. Don't talk about my comrade like that. They're a dope ass hexbear.

Please consider that this is in front of us right now now because the company is doing a media publicity drive so they can raise investment funds so they can conduct the trials that would prove one way or another whether this thing is worth being excited about.

The emotional stimulation is the intent of the advertising.

If the quoted guy really is a professional scientist then he is not behaving ethically or professionally with this sales pitch.

Because he can't be honest. Right now all they have is an idea and a very good argument with a little bit of evidence that they won't be wasting their time and potentially putting a lot of animals at risk chasing an obviously unrealistic fantasy. If he spoke plainly about where the drug is at in research and development it would be boring, measured and it would temper your expectations down, none of which raises money.

I'm not saying he's not a true believer either nor that he might not have good reason to be. That's all besides the point. However he feels about it he must raise capital.

It's cool science stuff and hopefully its a good sign that the FDA have approved the trial because in better times at least it meant that the theory had strong enough merit to start experimenting on animals in people's homes.

I'm not sure we can even infer that much from the FDA's behaviour in 2026.

My point though is please don't let these capitalists fuck with you like this and make collateral damage out of you while they spread their manipulative messaging.

You're a good dog owner and no there isn't some secret better richer owner that would have done a better job if you hadn't gotten in the way. There isn't. You are the one who stepped up. Better to avoid comparing yourself to the theoretical millionaire version of you. I'm not 100% sure but even that sounds like something porky would want you to believe about yourself.

"admit" implies reticence.

How about one of the right wing manosphere chuds saying your dog dying is actually a good thing.
