Rutte has failed my test. He can fuck right off.

What sort of arsehole cunt comes up with weird tests to their allies? Tests that involve participating in a illogical and illegal war. I didn't celebrate my country joining NATO so that we could go bomb some country in the middle east.

All of this is so infuriating. We don't need Rutte making things extra stupid.

arsehole cunt

My brain tries to visualise things when I read and this... was tricky to do.

[–] HuudaHarkiten@piefed.social 1 points 2 days ago

I'm deeply sorry for making you picture that

Hasn’t the US failed NATO by engaging in a war of aggression without consultation and then demanding NATO members to help?

[–] TheFeatureCreature@lemmy.ca 22 points 3 days ago

Surprise! The members of a defensive treaty aren't jumping for joy when one of the members begins an invasion and commits war crimes and then calls for the aid of the other members. Especially when said member previously lied before and got many killed for their false cause.

If the purpose of NATO is lost on Rutte then he should step aside and let in someone who actually knows what the organisation is supposed to do.

Rutte always has bend over to get the Trump mushroom. Called him Daddy. This guy betrayed the Netherlands and now he's betraying Europe. I don't know for sure but it feels like Rutte and Trump met on some island...

[–] cuboc@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

This is the guy under whose 'leadership', Dutch politics turned into a toxic cesspool. Education has worsened, the housing market has crashed, environmental problems were not solved and his party made sure that the energy infrastructure was not kept up properly, so that the citizens now pay for a hastened upgrade of said infrastructure. He has claimed to have no vision and is a compulsive liar with a very selective memory. I have not even touched all the debacles he facilitated.

This guy is now the boss of NATO and calls Trump 'daddy'. He is a fucking disgrace. I am ashamed to be from the same country as this piece of shit.

Rutte was a terrible PM. But he's a pretty good diplomat. Which I suppose is what NATO needs atm, a diplomat to keep Trump on board, even if it means licking copious amounts of orange ass. There's no low he won't go to in order to achieve that goal. He's doing everything he can to keep Trump from dragging the US out of NATO, which I suppose kind of fits his job description.

Lack of respect for reality to appease a fascist child is not working.

[–] grte@lemmy.ca 9 points 3 days ago

Rutte needs to go.

[–] redlemace@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

did not meet expectations set by the United States

Well Mark, tell me, where those expectations realistic or even reasonable to begin with???

[–] lnxtx@sopuli.xyz 6 points 3 days ago

Impeach this guy, Trump's bootlicker.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Mark Rutte is an idiot, and a traitor to the values of NATO just like USA.
USA failed all tests when they threatened to invade Greenland, and Trump fucking even brought it up again during their meeting!!
And Rutte has the audacity to make this idiotic statement?

USA also threatened genocide against Iran, and Rutte thinks we should help him? Jesus Christ what a moron.
NATO is a defensive alliance, not an alliance to support unprovoked illegal wars.

please. its to trumpy to be the actual us. its a trumpy trump test.

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 1 points 3 days ago

The test was to see if EU countries made good lackeys and if they were good and well under Trump's boot. That's not the test you want to pass.

[–] green_red_black@slrpnk.net 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Remember folks NATO was always dominated by the US. So no matter who is in the chair policy will be directed at keeping the US happy

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Nope not anymore, several NATO allies supported Greenland with troops to protect against a US invasion.
EU of which many member countries are also NATO members, threatened USA with using the Bazooka, and anti coercion instrument that was originally made to defend against coercion attempts from China.
This Bazooka if used, could dramatically undermine US economy.
I think it's pretty safe to say that Europe and very much Canada too, are tired of pleasing Trump.
But for some reason Rutte hasn't got the memo, or more likely he didn't understand it.

[–] green_red_black@slrpnk.net 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Tired yes but the current structure of NATO has it where if the US got the boot the Institution would than collapse and have to be rebuilt from the ground up.

On the Greenland situation while Trump was pissed the more Imperialist Faction of the administration (the political figures that like to keep the Western Institutions that the US built) rather like Europe making use of their own military to defend their respective sphere (which included Green Land for obvious reasons) as doing so means the US has more assets to bomb Iran and such.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

if the US got the boot the Institution would than collapse

Yes which is why in reality NATO has already collapsed, it's just not been dissolved yet.
But we can't trust USA to lead NATO anymore. Are you aware that if a NATO operation were to happen in the middle east, USA would have control of the British nukes?
Obviously we can't allow that.

as doing so means the US has more assets to bomb Iran and such.

That is pure fantasy, USA has not redirected anything from the arctic or Greenland to be used against Iran.

[–] green_red_black@slrpnk.net 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Erm that's not how that works. The US as the leader nation doesn't give them control over Eroupe's military.

Really? The US didn't move assets away from Greenland after the Eroupean powers increased and establish a deal was reached to have the US back off on it's annexation threat?

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's exactly how it works.

[–] green_red_black@slrpnk.net 1 points 2 days ago

Really. So if Trump where to hit the nuclear button the UK and French would also be launching their arsenal at who Trump commanded?
