Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

[–] LadyButterfly@reddthat.com 8 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

This honestly feels like the start of a post apocalyptic film

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 7 points 10 hours ago

You know it's real life because the plot is so much stupider than any film you might see.

Wow, that Nobel peace prize is going to come any day now, surely.

[–] garth@sh.itjust.works 9 points 13 hours ago

#1 peace prize candidate for sure

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 2 points 10 hours ago

I believe there is a good possibility they hold the Nobel committee Hostage to make them sign over the Peace Prize in the next couple years. To be clear the Nobel Peace Prize is a fucking joke and has been.

His peace is that of the mass grave.

Thank you for sharing this. I found it very touching - especially his response when he was tracked down years later and reflected on the moment he asked the question:

"... I think it's an affront to play the game of "you don't have the 'need to know'" for someone who's doing one of the most serious, grave jobs that there is in the armed forces. I have to say, I feel I do have a need to know, because I am a human being.

It is inherent in an officer’s commission that he has to do what is right in terms of the needs of the nation despite any orders to the contrary. You really don’t know at the time of key turning, whether you are complying with your oath of office.

I am left with a deep and growing hunger for peace among people at every level. It seems urgent to me that we find ways to become a more tolerant and forgiving people.

Perhaps, I was not a good match for duty as a missile launch officer.”

Such a very good man.

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago

I humbly suggest that the only truly sane launch officer is the one who would refuse to launch nukes.

[–] Chainweasel@lemmy.world 23 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Kegsbreath is probably in Trump's ear hourly begging him to let him drop a nuke on Iran. Trump's handlers will only be able to talk him out of it for so long.
Frankly, I'm surprised Trump didn't start the war with a nuke

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 9 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

And I thought Holden died recently.

[–] new_world_odor@lemmy.world 10 points 12 hours ago

He's been succeeded by Michael.

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 hours ago

I do not think he will drop a nuke, what he will do is hit any Iranian uranium to make a dirty bomb of sorts. Israel on the other hand, they will drop a nuke if they think they can. They are that Reckless.

The Oracle told me a great empire will be destroyed, that's what she told me - a great empire will be destroyed. And that's what we're doing, and it's tremendous. Nobody's ever seen anything like this

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 5 points 10 hours ago

Fuck he is practically doing exactly as the king of Lydia did. I fucken hate this dipshit.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 1 points 11 hours ago
