Marjorie Taylor Greene and Bernie Sanders among those responding with alarm to Trump writing ‘open the fuckin’ strait, you crazy bastards’

Some US politicians have reacted with alarm and questioned the US president’s mental state after Donald Trump issued an abusive, expletive-laden threat to Iran in which he called on the regime to “open the fuckin’ strait [of Hormuz], you crazy bastards”, as he threatened to further attack the country’s energy and transport infrastructure.

The US president wrote on his Truth Social platform: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

It comes as the Trump administration hurtles towards another self-imposed deadline – this time, Tuesday evening – for Iran to reopen the strait of Hormuz. One of the world’s most critical shipping lanes for oil and gas, the strait has been effectively shut since the US and Israel launched war on Iran at the end of February, causing oil prices around the world to skyrocket to record highs.

I'm ok with the fascism, reduction of our rights, human trafficking, pedophilia, rape, forced deportations, economic wars against our allies, bombing of civilians, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and bigotry against anyone that is not a cis het white man, but I draw a line at an American President cursing on Easter Sunday.

I'm sure Schumer is working on the sternly worded letter as we speak.

I can't wait for the GOP to get their electoral whomping in the next few elections. They needed to think of the good of the country instead of their republican political club.

That “party” needs to cease to exist, the party that unleashed this batshit sundowning quarterwhit orange shitgibbon not just on the US but the entire world - cannot proceed. Disband and dismantle the GOP, as well as ICE and homeland security. All his admin need to live out their lives in jail and SCOTUS too for giving him unlimited power & immunity. Not that the party sits out the next couple of cycles. They need to stop existing.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a former staunch ally turned Trump critic, said everyone in the Trump administration who claims to be a Christian needs to "beg forgiveness from God" and intervene in the president's "madness".

In a lengthy post on X, the former Republican congresswoman wrote: "I know all of you and him and he has gone insane, and all of you are complicit. I'm not defending Iran but let's be honest about all of this."

She went on: "The Strait is closed because the US and Israel started the unprovoked war against Iran based on the same nuclear lies they've been telling for decades, that any moment Iran would develop a nuclear weapon."

You know who has nuclear weapons? Israel. They are more than capable of defending themselves without the US having to fight their wars, kill innocent people and children, and pay for it. Trump threatening to bomb power plants and bridges hurts the Iranian people, the very people Trump claimed he was freeing."

You it's a Mad Easter when MGT is the voice of reason you are applauding, even if she is nucking futz.

Why didn't she stay in her role and fight him instead of resigning like a fucking coward?

[–] mech@feddit.org 22 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

She made bank riding the Trump Train, and now she's trying to make people forget, so she won't get pulled under with him when he goes down.

[–] sepi@piefed.social 5 points 2 hours ago

Let them fight and stand back, you clod. If she needs somebody to pass her a baseball bat or a rock while she's duking it out, give it to her. That's all you have to do. You ain't gotta become friends. Learn some pragmatism.

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 2 points 4 hours ago

I'm surprised she didn't also mention that Israel has space lasers.

MGT is the voice of reason

She's a contrarian. Don't mistake Tucker Carlson tier reactionary hot takes for reasonable analysis

US Politicians React

American politics in 2026 sounding like a third string influencer YouTube stream from 2012.

I'd like to think he got some bad news at his monthly whatever treatment.

Hopefully they told him he's only got a few months to run and that they can't really hide it much longer.

"I'm sorry sir we've been monitoring your dementia and sadly I have to tell you it's deteriorating".

"But woman, camera, television, cat, dog".

"Yes sir. In these later stages it's likely you'll have difficulty determining what's appropriate to say in different contexts"

"Hamderder"

Imagine if they just stopped letting him do unmanaged pressers, how long could it run before it became really obvious.

[–] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

A long time, forever in fact. They will follow him right into hell and cheer the whole way.

[–] MrSmoothPP@lemmy.zip -3 points 7 hours ago

I'm curious to see if Trump will follow through and what his allies in NATO are going to do about it. If they won't cut ties it reflects poorly on them as well. Not that it stopped them from licking America's boots anyway.
