U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday submitted a budget request to Congress for fiscal year 2027 seeking $1.5 trillion in defense spending, a roughly 44% increase over 2026 levels, while proposing a 10% reduction in non-defense discretionary spending totaling $73 billion in cuts.

The proposed defense budget includes funding for Trump's Golden Dome missile defense system, a pay raise of 5% to 7% for military personnel and $65.8 billion for 34 new combat and support ships. The White House said the request "advances President Trump's delivery of peace through strength."

"Peace through Strength"

Totally, man. I listen to Donald talk and the first thing I think about is Teddy Roosevelt and speaking softly carrying a big stick. Absolute tough guy and not an insecure, fat, stupid, limpdick overindulged piece of shit being exploited for personal gain by every single person in his orbit.

Teddy Roosevelt was an imperialist too

Yes, but it's not like that's a rare trait for presidents or national leaders throughout the history of the US.

One of the only good things about Donald, historically, was his reticence for war and disentangling the US from foreign wars, such as with Syria and Afghanistan. All that's out the window now that he needs a way to supercharge his grift before November and also to distract from his raping of kids.

Please don’t even mention them together in a sentence; Trump is too corrupt

He even manages to fuck over the one win of his bullshit administration this round.

It just occurred to me. What ever happened to Space Force?

[–] albatross9163@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It’s still here not sure if they are doing anything in space yet

So, Space Force was created during the first Trump administration, and they still haven't been to space? Sounds about right.

I remember about 15 years or so ago. The republicans wanted to increase the military budget to 600 billion or something like that. Back then the rest of the world were like "why in the fuck is that needed? You're at war with a bunch of people driving Toyotas with old soviet weapons, hiding in literal holes in mountains! Feed your people and treat their ailments instead!"

I guess now they need about 2.5x that to fight a war that isn't even a war, but just a ~~police action~~ ~~special military opperation~~ military aid for Israel...

Feed your fucking people and give them healthcare ffs!

Oh yeah.

And the irony is Donald ran on ending foreign wars and affordability whereas Democrats ardently insisted to voters that they had to say the things the billionaires wanted them to in order to win.

JDPON Don is doing everything in his power to ensure China beats the US back to the moon. O7

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

True, and it will create a debt. As new advances are made, the US will be paying a premium to access them, thanks to the 'bull in a china shop' foreign policy of Donald and his cronies.

Indeed, these things were going to happen regardless, but Trump accelerated the process dramatically.

[–] Paragone@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Why not?

The only part of NASA's mission that's important to Trump, is the for-show stuff, like a needless Moon mission, to, like Operation Epstein Fubar, distract from what he's really doing.

All the rest is going to be shed, throughout the remainder of his time, probably..

Ego's lord, now.

Two words: space marines.

Militarise education and hospitals. A well educated and healthy populace is crucial to increase the quality of its cannon fodder
