Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

In reference to the US president. I don't even think AI could recreate the stupid shit the orange pedophile spews out of his face asshole everyday, it wouldn't be believable..

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Hell, when his tweets are concise and to the point, I already assume it isn't him.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I said half-jokingly to my grandmother today that if I see Trump say anything good, I'll assume it's AI

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago

I already saw that he was attending some Supreme Court stuff and thought it was an April Fools joke.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 days ago

Plus he looks sickly lately, I think they'd make him look better if it were AI created videos

[–] hitmyspot@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago

With ai. You needed to look out for extra fingers. With trump, just look for normal size fingers.

[–] Goodlucksil@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 days ago

But could it work with other, less insane presidents like... Um... Sánchez?

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

I've played with multiple LLMs trying to recreate his speech patterns and yeah… I haven't seen anything satisfactory, they're all too coherent.

Real life AneurysmPosting every time he opens his mouth.

Trump would actually be super easy for AI, barely an inconvenience. All the glitchy mistakes and hallucinations have been staples of the real Trump from long before computers were in common use.

Look-alikes and doppelgangers have been around for longer than AI has, and so have conspiracy theories about famous people being replaced by body doubles. They could replace a famous person with AI, but a body double would probably be more convincing since they could still make public appearances.

trump already is in large part a virtual president. There were entire weeks last year were he disappeared from the public and only posted one video of him speaking in the oval office which was AI generated. Most of his tweets and posts are written by someone else imo, like the "thank you for you attention in this matter" ones, way too coreherent and matter of facty and dry

also noone has seen the new Ayatollah in weeks

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If I got promoted to the job of "guy who gets assassinated by America" you wouldn't see me until $500/barrel

[–] not_IO@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

that's a good point. what I'm trying to get at is, the part that "leadership" plays in organizations is vastly overstated and often times non existant.

Another example Belgium went without government for over 2 years once

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 3 points 2 days ago

Sounds nice, more people should try it!

[–] kokesh@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

I think even AI has better verbal abilities than that orange fuck.

Anything really

[–] jjagaimo@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 days ago

Not familiar with it.

[–] Widdershins@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He still has quite a few hours to die and make hilarious headlines today the 1st of April.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, if he dies today people won't know whether to believe it. He's supposed to make a speech tonight, imagine if instead someone comes on tv and announces he just died

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

I honestly wouldn't know how to feel. Yay? But is it real? I hate getting my hopes up.

[–] mlg@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Netanyahu literally a couple of weeks ago, and I still think people believe ~~he's dead~~ was injured

[–] trashcroissant@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Was he not injured? Why did they do the weird AI shit?

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Testing public perception to see if they can pull it off, maybe.

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 days ago

Yep have you seen the Netanyahu is dead conspiracy theory several weeks ago?

[–] spittingimage@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

No need to over-engineer it. 4-year olds work for juice. That's gotta be cheaper than AI tokens.

[–] MyFriendGodzilla@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Nah thered be too much risk of an ai system making some kind of sense.

[–] meejle@piefed.world 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

His psycho fanbase will refuse to believe reports of his death anyway.

[–] blimthepixie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Similar to those that think Elvis is still alive?

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 days ago

And Hitler

But even if those conspiracy theories were true, surely he'd be dead by now

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Which is weird, because that would make him 91 today.

Even if he hadn't died in '77, the way his weight was going, I doubt he'd have made it to 80 anyways.

[–] minorkeys@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Can't AI in the analogue.

[–] emergencyfood@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 days ago

I had to think a couple of minutes who the current president is, and I'm one of those freaks who reads the news. So yeah, no one will notice.

[–] AbouBenAdhem@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (3 children)

They’d need to ensure the cooperation of the VP, who could become president by exposing the scheme.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 days ago

Yeah, a lot of people would need to be on the conspiracy, which is another reason to doubt it's happening. But I could see it happening eventually

[–] JcbAzPx@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Not too hard to get VP couchfucker's full cooperation.

[–] zout@fedia.io 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I doubt it. The only reason for him to cooperate is because he can be elected for two more terms if he becomes president after January '27. Tbh, I think he's as power hungry as Trump himself, and I wouldn't bet against him going after Trump's kids (with all their corruption) if he were to become president suddenly.

[–] JcbAzPx@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

I mean, he wouldn't be doing it because he personally wants to. It would be one of his masters dictating it to him.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He would want to wait until the halfway point in Trump's term so he can have 2.5 terms total.

[–] AbouBenAdhem@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Anticipating this, the people controlling the AI would wait until just before the halfway point, then put out a statement declaring the VP a traitor and demanding Congress impeach him. If the VP tried to expose the AI after that, it would be dismissed as an attempt at retribution.

[–] ZephyrXero@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Yep. AI Trump will probably be the fake Antichrist in their performative Armageddon.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 2 points 3 days ago

We'd know when they try to make him say anything that makes any sense.

[–] mushroommunk@lemmy.today 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He's still publicly photographed for signings and things. We're not able to generate him giving a talk like he's supposed to later today thank whatever power exists

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago

Maybe not now, but in the future it could happen

[–] atropa@piefed.social 1 points 3 days ago

And what the shit smell in the room
