Umm acktually, defacing US legal tender is a federal crime sweaty? Where's your civility? We cannot stoop to their level!

This hits as hard as when reddit atheists would black out "in god we trust" with sharpie.

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

idk maybe we, here, of all places should support defacing anticommunism.

I’m here for this, it’s funny. As long as they’re not under the illusion that it means anything politically, uncritical support.

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 11 points 1 day ago

christian supremacy is so entrenched, anything that pisses them off and undermines their social position is good. making privileged people feel uncomfortable is good, categorically.

internet atheists were annoying (the primary backlash wasn't because of the racist faction when the default reddit position was hating muslims), real life christians take away your rights, your healthcare, want to kill trans people, and are currently trying to destroy the world because they think jesus will come back if they do enough zionism and wars.

the primary contradiction seems obvious to me.

It would be more effective to circle it and write something like β€œCongress shall make no such law” and point out the flagrant disregard for the constitution the US courts have when it conflicts with their personal preferences.

It punches harder, is at least 80% less cringe, doesn’t feel like a personal attack to a Christian, and has at least some possibility of reaching someone.

[–] godisidog@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago

Nah, that's boring, wordy, and liberal.

Also Christians should feel like they're being personally attacked.

ok? we'll assume for the sake of argument that any of that happened, and your problem is with the redditor and not the anticommunists who put it on the money in the first place, or the person who threw a tantrum over it?

You'll notice that the screenshot which I just made says that the post happened almost 18 years ago. I wonder what this person is doing now and if they're still drawing on dollar bills.

I don't have any problem with it. I just think it's silly and pointless. It makes me laugh. I recall there being many similar incidents of people drawing over the 'in god we trust' around 2010. Seems to have mostly been forgotten.

Writing "Trump is a pedophile" on dollars is to the same effect.

It reminds me of the Occupy Wallstreet era.

[–] Civility@hexbear.net 14 points 1 day ago

If you really want to own trump, print your own money! That'll show him

You should do it using ultraviolet marker also. Will increase chances of spreading without being noticed too soon.

"Around the world"? You know most of the world doesn't use USD, right?

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It kind of does, due to the petrodollar and SWIFT and IMF and World Bank. It's the global reserve currency.

Though a lot of that isn't actual literal paper dollar bills, just numbers on a computer screen, but still.

[–] Orcocracy@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago

Yeah, the bills don’t circulate normally anywhere except the US. Even in the couple of countries that are dollarized that’s not normal circulation and is quite precarious. The digital dollars only exist in the computers of bankers and are basically spreadsheet placeholders for whatever currencies are actually used at the origin and destination of whatever material thing is being traded around the world.

Not entirely true. The USD is used globally in trade, and lots of illegal activities.

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago

Sadly not true. Many countries accept physical USD.

[–] Bloobish@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago

How's he gonna slip outta this one!?

[–] Dort_Owl@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The DOJ might issue an "emergency" ruling that defacing new currency carries the death penalty. Legal experts laugh at this but are very careful to hedge as in "This case should be thrown out." Within weeks GOP SCOTUS issues a bizarre shadow docket ruling that agrees with the DOJ. And - just like that - defacing currency with Trump's signature can get you executed.

The method of execution is first undecided. But Trump says "People are going to die on teevee so it's gotta look good for teevee. Firing squad probably maybe. Firing squad good object lesson. Probably best."

[–] FidelChadstro@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago

I'm kinda ok with this one

[–] FidelChadstro@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago

"fuck" preceding his signature is easier

"when interviewed later, Mr Passport King declined to answer if he himself would even do it. no pen was found in his pockets" <- I am predicting the future

[–] oliveoil@hexbear.net 1 points 1 day ago

If I am in a position where I have to accept US currency, and I see that - I am not accepting the currency.
