I've played drums "off and on" my entire life; but I keep getting stumped by 'fluency'. Any tips for motivation or fun lessons?

As a former chef who had an astonishingly abusive boss (he literally violated basic labor laws and I didn't know any better and felt pressured to impress to advance), Whiplash is maybe the most triggering movie I've ever seen.

Anybody who watches that movie and isn't utterly horrified at the ending didn't understand the fucking movie.

I watched OZ (the prison fantasy show on HBO) before I watched Whiplash and seeing JK Simmons toned way down didn't bother me as much as someone who didn't know him as a rapist Nazi before.

Fantastic actor, love to watch him work, but he is so good at making you hate him.
