There will be games in Canada and Mexico too, consider going to those instead. The cup is in July, so due to height of summer I would be looking at Canada, personally.
I'm seeing friends cancel vacation plans and work colleagues cancel work trips to the US and I don't blame them. If I didn't already live here, I wouldn't be looking to travel to the US without really good reason, and a sport tournament would not be enough for me.
Thanks for the response. I work in an area where the my bosses are frantically trying to "get ready" for the massive crowds anticipated for World Cup, and lately I've been wondering why anyone, much less a crowd, would be planning to travel to the US if they didn't absolutely have to.

Thank you. A few of the responses made me realize that I didn't phrase the question very well initially. I appreciate the response, and I think the sentiment you shared is at the center of my question.

It was clear to me from the beginning that it would be a horrible idea to visit this fucked up event, that is hosted in this (at least currently) fucked up country.
I phrased the question poorly, and should have clarified that I was asking if anyone that had planned to attend a match was reconsidering. Maybe I'll edit it later, and I appreciate the response.
I doubt it. This is the World Cup after all. Football fans have love fighting, god, and then their religion... football. Being sensitive to world politics doesn't factor into their thinking.
It'll be packed with fans. They'll even put news stories on about how "safe" it is for women fans. Look at Russia and Qatar as examples. Why do people think otherwise?
Do people still seriously consider travelling/engaging with the US in any way??

There world breathed a sigh of relief after Russia and Qatar thinking thank Pele the next world cup will be held in nice, non-contriversial countries! And then time moved forward.
I didn't have any plans to visit in the first place. But if you ask people who organize conferences or other events these days they all bemoan a significant drop in demand from abroad. I think Mexico making the headlines recently with the cartel starring a turf war will not have helped either. My prediction is the highest percentage foreign visitors compared to local spectators will be at the games in Canada. I suspect the US venues will struggle to put butts in all the seats like during the Club WC.
I also think it is very likely that I, personally, will never travel to the US ever again. I have no money - undoubtedly the bigger obstacle - but I lost all interest.
There's no World Cup this year since the Candidates' tournaments will take its place (https://candidates2026.fide.com/). The Candidates' will be played in Cyprus from March 28 to April 16, assuming the venue isn't blown up by then (it apparently came under some kind of bombing attack due to the Iran war).
The World Cup last year was held in Goa, India (https://worldcup2025.fide.com/) so travel to the US wasn't an issue for either event. Travel FROM the US might be problematic for some people, depending on what the unpredictable US government does.
It was the Sovereign British Areas that came under attack by a single drone as far as we are aware. Technically its British territory, even though its colonial in nature.
Thanks for the response. I phrased the original question rather poorly, but I was glad to learn a bit about the FIDE World Cup. I hope for the safety of this year's Cadidates' tournament.
