Ah, the researchers finally got around to playing Expedition 33 huh?

Jokes aside, isn't this also a phenomenon with finishing books and TV shows?

I distinctly remember the depression people who loved the first avatar movies were in after it ended. There was even a forum for them.

I've had the same thought. When I finish a really good, lengthy, book it feels similar to when you lose touch with friends.

This is why I don’t start a brand new game when I finish a game I love. I will go replay an older game to sort of reset, so I give the new game a “fair shake”.

Same with TV shows. Finished scrubs again, got to end, turned it off and tried to figure out what was next. Sad times.

Somewhere in here lies the psychological explanation for the Epstein files

This is why i replay final fantasy x several times but will never finish it myself. I don't want it to end

So that's why almost nobody finish their games, according to Steam achievements?

[–] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago

That’s the case for me. The last game I’ve “completed” was a game where I can play through multiple different scenarios (Surviving Mars.) I have completed about half the mystery scenarios, and I love being able to replay it and have it be new all over again.

steam achievements are just that .. steam achievements.

it's not the game.

Yeah, i know, I also don't care about them but they are funny little statistical facts, like "only 20% of the people that played this game beated the tutorial" or "45% of the players didn't play past the first chapter".

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 4 points 1 day ago

I am goods at beateding tutorials.

[–] essell@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

My problem isn't finishing them.

My problem is starting them.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 2 points 1 day ago

maybe that is why I never finish them. They are all still an option.

I feel like we've gotten this same headline over the past 20 years

Years ago I played Dragon Quest XI up to the good point: where they time traveled and resurrected . My PSN expired and I never finished it.

Can someone please tell me if I did it right?
