It is just astounding that Republicans have forfeited congressional power.
They cant manage to prevent the president from usurping their power to declare war, let alone stop ICE from killing Americans on the street.
What makes you think this isn't by design?
I mean, its surprising they've given up their power.
They haven't, they just like to feign opposition when useful for election purposes without actually structurally ceding any power.
They don't care if there are a million Democrat protesters killed or middle eastern children bombed, but they can't say that. But if they act like they just can't do anything about it, their voters will accept that, because they're a mix of unquestioning single-issue "Christians" and MAGAts who are equally okay with (Republican) state violence.
Oh sure they might feel like they still have the power, but they've literally let Trump usurp the power of the purse and war declarations - constitution be damned.
