(The only) problem with this: The drone hit the weapons rack.

Ergo each individual rocket and missile needs a separate cage.

That nose cone looks unprotected....

[–] setsneedtofeed@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago

The engineering is there.

Who needs air intercept radar anyway...

[–] setsneedtofeed@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

What about a second helicopter flying above the first one, slingload carrying a cage big enough to entirely protect the first helicopter?

[–] deacon@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Who is going to protect him? Eventually it’s helicopters all the way down.

[–] setsneedtofeed@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

Precisely. Space is the ultimate high ground. Once the cage tower is high enough that it can be dangled from a geosynchronous orbital platform the defense will be impenetrable.

Or the blades, must protect both!

It's not real though, and I don't find it funny either... Maybe it's just me.

I felt the need to comment since I get the vibes some commenters think it's real...

Would you say it's...noncredible?

Imagine having a WWE cage match in this thing. While it's flying lol

You can tell this is fake because there would be reactive armor on the nose if it were real.

Ok so my impression from these posts is that its hard to hit a helicopter, but I was thinking if helicopters fly by pushing air downward, would simply getting a drone above a helicopter suck it down into the blades?

Slightly. But I don't know why you are trying to solve the problem of making things in air move downward.

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 3 points 4 days ago

The drone solved that problem. The russian heli went down. Hence the noncredibility of the cope cage defense.

[–] Hello_there@fedia.io 3 points 4 days ago

Are there examples of Russian anti drone cages for ships? I'm thinking it looks like waterworld ships

Caged cockpit.
