Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Surely this will fix the affordability crisis.

The best way to "stop the sexualization of children" is to eliminate the Epstein class.

[–] TwilitSky@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

1984 would be offended at rhis level of control and censorship.

How about the pedophile class stops discussing children?

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 2 points 1 day ago

"You certainly seem to spend a lot of time thinking about children's genitals," is my go-to to get them to shut up.

I am fucking sick of the entirety of these "people" having their wntire concept of being trans come from porn and therefore be entirely sexual in nature. I honestly don't want to live on this planet (or this country, or at all) anymore.

[–] polariscap@lemmy.cafe 8 points 2 days ago (3 children)

For sure. Living just to spite the hateful fuckers over here.

[–] hemmes@lemmy.world 26 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Man, they are really obsessed with trans life

[–] sturmblast@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

As a leftist, you know how often I think about Trans folks? Not much.

Don't Ask Don't Tell 2, Electric Boogaloo?

[–] Kn1ghtDigital@lemmy.zip 30 points 2 days ago

Nah. Punching Nazis time.

[–] jimothysupreme@lemmy.org 7 points 1 day ago (3 children)

This just isn't a pressing issue. More affordable housing, groceries, and healthcare, maybe?

[–] VirtigoMommy@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not pressing to you maybe, but state sanctioned descrimination like this is dehumanizing and dangerous. Shit like this rips apart families and gets kids killed.

It would be nice to live in a world where I don’t have to worry so much about bills, but that doesn’t mean shit to me if it comes at the cost of the erasure of anyone. Trans, queer, black, Latino, I don’t give a fuck.

What good is healthcare if it’s a felony to tell your doctor what's wrong with you? What good is affordable housing if no one will rent to you?

Liberation for all or none.

[–] jimothysupreme@lemmy.org 4 points 1 day ago

I agree with you. My point being that it's a shame politicians waste their time with the flavor of this week's culture war and dunking on the libs instead of fixing real issues and leaving these people alone.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (4 children)

The US is in the middle of a trans genocide, but sure go on and tell me about how that isn't pressing because it doesn't affect you specifically

[–] Cherries@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The way I read jimothy's comment is that Republican politicians are using trans people as a distraction from issues they don't want to address. Conservatives are making problems by claiming trans people are bad in order to deflect attention away from problems their constiuents actually care about.

Conservative voters, if presented with the choice of healthcare or trans athletes, would absolutely prefer their politicians to focus on healthcare. A farmer in Iowa does not actually give a fuck what bathroom a trans person uses, their attention has just been redirected in that direction by grifters.

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

This is exactly it. They have to keep focusing on more narrower minorities. Can't do it to women, blacks, or even gay people anymore. They NEED a minority scapegoat to blame all their problems on. There's like 8 trans athletes in college in the U.S. right now and they passed a bill to ban them from competing. Meanwhile there's a housing crisis, fuel crisis, climate crisis, etc etc.

I'm not saying the problems trans people face aren't real or anything like that. Just that there seem to be more pressing issues that are affecting a greater number of people.

So you don't think things would be better if the GOP just ignored trans people and let them be and instead focused on fixing the economy? Because I think it would be great if right-wing politicians stopped focusing on people's sex, gender, and sexuality.

[–] jimothysupreme@lemmy.org 3 points 1 day ago

Relax. Keep reading for context.

[–] afromustache@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Yeah you definitely misinterpreted his comment

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Less than 1% of the population.

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Wait, are you saying trans people are less than 1% of the population, or that less than 1% of the population get housing, groceries, & healthcare?

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What percent of the population do you think trans people make up?

apparently the average polled american thinks it's 20%

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 2 points 1 day ago

I think you know the answer to that

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Yet another page right out of Hitler's playbook.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago

How did the "Don't say gay" plan work out for you in the past?

[–] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 33 points 2 days ago (3 children)

No more transitive verbs or translated texts. No more transportation networks or radio transmitters. Don't even talk to me about the crossbeam between the door and the window above it. And if you mention transfer students you're getting suspended!

“Stop the Sexualization of Children Act" .... Maybe the GOP should stop being pedos instead.

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Maybe the GOP should stop being instead.

Sorry kid, your Optimus Prime backpack is banned. Automotive class is also canceled because we can’t discuss changing gears. History class will not be discussing what was completed at on May 10, 1869 at Promontory Summit, Utah. Those of you who have completed driver’s ed can pick up your licenses at the Department of Portation.

I fucking hate these people.

Followed tightly by the "don't say Epstein" bill.

From now on all instances of "Epstein" will be replaced with "just some guy, not important really" in all government documents.

Release the just some guy, not important list!
