A Louisiana Republican congressional candidate endorsed by Donald Trump was the subject of a 2007 rape accusation that was reported to local law enforcement the same day of the alleged assault – but never disclosed to the public or, reportedly, the president’s team as he became one of the rising stars in the state’s Republican party.

That has raised concerns within the White House that Blake Miguez “either wasn’t fully vetted or wasn’t forthcoming about discoverable documents from his past” before securing Trump’s backing, the Atlantic reported on Wednesday, citing two unnamed sources familiar with the endorsement process.

Miguez’s campaign told the Atlantic it denied the allegations by a woman who described him as a “live-in ex boyfriend” at the time. The claims did not result in any formal criminal charges after the accuser said she refused to press charges against Miguez – then in law school – because she did not want to get him into trouble, according to what investigators wrote in a police report obtained by the Guardian through a public records request.

All republicans are objectively evil.

If you in any way support the Republican Party in the year of our lord 2026, you are an evil person.

It’s also fucking humiliating that democrats can’t compete against the most obviously immoral, vile, scum of the earth republican candidates.

Republicans want power; Dems want perfection.

MAGAs want 12 year olds.

Qualifications?

"Rape, murder, arson, and rape."

You said rape twice.

"I like rape."

Charming. Sign right here.

At this point I'd be surprised if the American Nazi party fielded anyone who wasn't a sex criminal or psychopath.

It's almost like conservatives are inherently evil because they lack empathy and the virtue, ethics, or morality that are derived from it.

Unfortunately babyboomers still have 20-30 years of life in them. My bosses are 50-60 yrs old. There all trump loving suckers and losers who fell for a con mans lies.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 2 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah I'm 52. I'm not a boomer. I'm more like the oldest xennial (I'm too old for that cohort but they are defined by growing up with internet and technology and I was definitely on the leading edge of my generation for that).

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago

The sad thing is, for all the rhetoric about "boomers", the generations I'm most concerned about are far younger. The boomers had all kinds of movements against "the man". If there is any measurable movement among the military aged right now, it seems to be pro-fascist or at least fascist-adjacent. Especially if you exclude the women.

[–] cowfodder@lemmy.world 5 points 23 hours ago

So, Gen X that are acting like boomers then?

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 8 points 22 hours ago

The rape accusation is how you know trump's endorsement is true. A badge of honour among half-men.

And?

Not a drag queen

I thought it was just a given that any association with the king pedophile means you are a pedophile or have pedophile tendencies?

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 3 points 22 hours ago

Is there a tracker of how many times Trump endorsed a politician and through a bit of digging, we find this person has a history of rape, sexual abuse, or pedophilia?

It happened like a dozen times already.

Furthermore, Miguez’s campaign responded to the Guardian’s list of questions about the police report by providing a 24 February email sent by the accuser’s father to the state senator’s office, which had the sentence: “Everything my daughter has reported about you were lies and she is a liar and has a drug problem.”

The email doesn’t elaborate on precisely how the author knows his daughter told lies, and he didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. But Miguez’s campaign said in a statement: “The woman’s father gave permission to share this email with you.”

This is like the most abuser coded series of actions and statements short of actually assaulting someone I can imagine

As is tradition

"This dude knows how to party!" - Trump

[–] U7826391786239@piefed.zip 1 points 21 hours ago

isn't that pretty much a minimum requirement to be GOP at this point?

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago

If you are a white, conservative male and you're racist and sexist, you probably are a rapist.
