Well history says the states started to have more gun laws after the black panthers, so maybe this is the way to get gun control in pacific non violent way.
I don't think 'feeling safe' is the goal so much as the understanding that the Nazis are making a huge comeback, and that votes and protest signs don't generally do a great job of killing Nazis.
Like, if you're going down anyway, might as well bag a few Nazis on your way out; or maybe you see some Nazis harrassing someone and you're a safe distance away with a rifle.

When the black panthers started getting guns, they got gun reform laws up real quick.
Now imagine every LGBTetc individual getting a gun, it shows up in the Republican Excel sheets. They start getting scared and invent new laws to make it harder.
If/When you buy the gun, you disassemble it and store it in a certified gun safe. This way when they storm your apartment and kill your because “you had a gun” it’s a fuck lot harder for them to plant a gun on you.

We wouldn't be in this mess if the left weren't so damned anti 2nd amendment. Like, the amount of people I know in the Midwest that simply refuse to ever vote Democrat solely because of guns is insane.
That, and the DNC trying to make Hillary president. Then not having Biden step down due to health in like year 2. The left could win some things if they didn't suck at it and weren't also corrupt as hell.
A lot of this country is still stuck in the manufactured civility-world that was painted for us in media in the 80's and 90's, where racism doesn't really exist, and politics is all about if you're following the rules and that a good, logical argument should be our strongest tool against destructive forces.
Which is really wild considering we are literally entering world war 3, ICE is now a paramilitary force with no oversight and reports only to the president, and they are building concentration camps across the US, and our entire health system has been defunded and academics are pouring out of the country while the climate burns around us.
I have my own issues with the DNC, but that's a whole different rant. For now, we have to do everything we can to remind those who would rule over us that they can't use force to intimidate us.
I’m not against people owning guns. God knows, we need a big crowd of hunters to thin turkey populations in New England. But by the same rules, there are some dumb absolutists against any form of gun regulation.

I get called a lot of names on reddit, it only empowers me and tells me I'm doing something right. This site is filled with the most hand-wringing, roleplaying, sheltered, naive segment of performative leftists and literal children out of all the content aggregation forums I have accounts on.
I agree, and they get so mad when a leftist actually does something to try and improve the world
They also hate being told that good outcomes are still possible with work, effort and... the most dreaded, scaaary word of all, socialization. This is one of those tumblr-spheres of kids who think their asocial depressive episodes are an identity and it has gotten me in more than a few scuffles. They sure don't seem to have problems confronting strangers when their comfort-patterns are on the line.

I am heartened how much pushback this bullshit meme is getting. We need to seize power in the US, we need to defend our rights and we need to make sure anyone who might want to haul people off to concentration camps for political reasons knows that every door has a shotgun pointed at head-level if they try to kick 'em down.
