The moment 19-year-old Emely Agustin spotted the group of masked immigration agents tackling a woman facedown on the pavement, her heart dropped.

She saw the woman’s red jacket.

“Oh my fucking God. That’s my mom!” she screamed.

It was the morning of 5 November in Cottage Grove, in central Oregon, and masked officers with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had dragged Juanita Avila out of her van. The agents pinned her down as she cried out for her daughter, who started filming. Juanita, a 47-year-old legal permanent resident, had her green card in her pocket, but officers handcuffed and detained her.

Of course they didn't care, they have a arrest quota to fill. The fact that they're arresting innocent people that will later be released at great cost for the government doesn't matter, we must have action for actions sake.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 26 points 5 days ago

Hey now, let's be fair. Sometimes they just kill people to save themselves the trouble.

Yup! That's number 3 on Umberto Eco's List of 14 Common Features of Fascism, which is the gold standard in characterizing and identifying fascism.

[–] Sludgehammer@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

Yeah, I've been referencing Ur-fascism more and more for some reason.

Ice agents don’t deserve to live

[–] kescusay@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Fuck that. Death is the easy way out for the monsters behaving this way.

I want the chief monster in charge removed, tried, and left to rot in a prison for the rest of his miserable life, without access to orange makeup. And I want every piece of shit that has agreed to work with him to suffer the same fate.

Don't let them become martyrs or allow them to make the lies they tell about us all being the same true. We're not the same. These motherfuckers are trying to destroy the law. The law should fucking destroy them instead.

You’re never going to get your wish. To me you sound like a centrist, maybe even a MAGA, or at worst a fed trying to shut down assassination talk.

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I think you have it backwards. Usually it’s the Feds advocating for this type of thing.

[–] outofthisworld@lemmy.org 0 points 5 days ago

Lies.

The “fed post” is a fallacy. A concept used to shut people down. Show me an example of the US government telling people to revolt against the government. A real example I can see, not some theory.

Telling people to obey is fascism. Telling people to calm down is fascism. Telling people not to rise up against an oppressive government is fascism.

They should live. Just without kneecaps.

[–] outofthisworld@lemmy.org 2 points 5 days ago

Fine, kneecaps, eyes, thumbs. Gone.

[–] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 34 points 5 days ago

Exactly why EVERYONE in this regime needs prison or worse; these violations are blatant and as we’ve seen WILL HAPPEN AGAIN unless we make that impossible.

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I mean its obviously not about "removing illegals" ( not that that would be a good thing ) but about mass terror of an underclass.

it's an ethnic cleansing.

the fact no journalist said it, means they are all complicit

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

It seems to be about making sure people pass some melanin test. As in not having too much.

My dad is a green card holder and PRC Citizen...

He has zero arrests, zero criminal records (beside some traffic/parking tickets)

I have a bad feeling... cuz he doesn't really speak English... 👀

My mom still calls me a lazy piece of shit because I don't really wanna go outside...

Mom be like: "You're a citizen, why are you so worried? Do you think your dad should stay home all day and not go to work?"

So... yeah...

According to my mom: My fears are invalid and depression is non-existent

She thinks I'm just looking for "excuses" to "be lazy"

Why does the south get to vote? Revoke their statehood ffs, keep them as a permanent territory.

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

Ofc they don't care. They have carte blanche to do whatever they want until Shitler is gone. If you oppose the regime-- aka not a nazi-- then they could kidnap you. It's not arrest. They aren't cops. Call it what it is: illegal disgusting fascist 100% KIDNAPPING.

Tick tock... Nuremberg...

[–] PointyFluff@lemmy.ml 7 points 5 days ago

NAZI PUNKS FUCK OFF

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

They will arrest all immigrants nowadays.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I hope that it becomes normalized to give ICE the Luigi treatment.

[–] Eheran@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Has it happened even once now? So anyone fight back? So many have guns, why does nothing happen and they roam the streets completely uncontested?

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 1 points 4 days ago

I think it is 1 part fear, 1 part civility, and 1 part denial. Quite honestly, as someone who owns a gun and has been training in how to use it, I am hoping someone else handles things on my behalf. Killing and being killed is scary, and definitely means hardship if one goes through with bloodshed.

Unfortunately, I have the feeling that there won't be any real choice for me and others. Sooner or later, we will have to raise our arms against the Trump Regime. Because they are monsters.
