I grew up in a state with a bottle bill. People nearly always held onto and returned their bottles and cans and this kept the streets fairly clean. I live in a state without a bottle bill now and everywhere has so much more litter it's appalling. If anything, there should be a national bottle bill, they should increase the deposit to $0.50 or higher, and water bottles, should be included (or really just banned outright).

They say that recycling wasn't intended to be a way to make a living.
Seems like a way better job than many that exist (in terms of broad social value, obviously the labor is undercompensated and should be better-compensated), and also what do they make of people working at recycling plants? People collecting waste? I guess I don't want to know.
Yeah lol. These fuckers saying it isn't supposed to be a way to make a living or whatever are the same fucking busybody pieces of shit who support forcing remote workers back into the office.
I've always thought it was weird how these people will call America the freest country on Earth, and then proceed to dictate how everyone around them ought to live their lives.
It’s literally how we got less litter. Ohio is a shithole for idiots and would never vote for one. Bring it up and every last person here would be whining on how it’s an affront to freedom.
Unironically we need to start snapping at these smiling fucks. They keep always getting their way, always have and always will. At the very least we should cuss them out and see if we can at least once or twice wipe their constant smug, shit-eating grins off their faces.
I grew up in Ohio, and left 25 years ago, and have never been back. Awful place, easily the worst weather of anywhere I've ever been, and most of the people suck. Ohioans have a particularly judgemental attitude that they don't deserve. They're from Ohio, they shouldn't be judging anyone.
Anybody intelligent LEAVES Ohio, so anyone left is a dickhead, or can't leave for whatever reason, and those people are miserable.

I usually bag my cans separate and leave them outside the bins. I've been called out by busybody neighbors for "encouraging canning" but I just wanna make that shit easier (and save space in my recycling bin).
It's kinda like trans sports bans - there's just a segment of people here who really hate the homeless and will take any angle to do it.
Reminds me of those "don't feed the fauna" signs you see- like they think desperate people will just wander off into nature if you make sure there are no scraps for them. Dipshits.
