JDownloader2 looks extremely 2005core janky, but it works extremely well at making sure downloads finish no matter how flaky the source and it's Free Software

aria2 probably
I like aria2 and someone mentioned a plugin to make it have a better user experience in this thread https://lemmy.ml/comment/24208583
if you're using linux i'd recommend Axel
I'm not using linux, but I'll try checking if Axel has a windows compatible version, thanks
EDIT: Okay yeah I don't think there's a windows compatible version of this, lol; it talks a lot about command line stuff
Firefox used to need a download manager extension but I don’t think it has needed one in 15 years
What web browser are you using? I’m pretty sure both chrome and Firefox support resuming an interrupted download.
I am currently using firefox, and so far some downloads stopped and say they failed, but when I hit retry they do seem to resume from where they stopped, so that's definitely good; I'll try completing my downloads with firefox if this is the case
they do but some hosts don't resume properly from the browser and might with jdownloader2 or whatever
