Today is day 2 of using the nicotine spray.

Have cut vaping down by 90%. It used to be pretty much non stop.

I've used it a handful of times today. My lungs are starting to clear because I'm coughing up a little bit if crap.

I've been smoking 26 years.

[–] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

I'm a bit like Force, I started with the spray and moved to the lozenges. I really liked the spray and used it for about 4 years before I switched to the lozenges. I can't see myself giving up the lozenges any time soon but the way I see it, anything is better than smoking or vaping and I'm happy for myself, because I was really badly addicted. I gave up and then started again and quit again about 10 years ago. I'd had about a dozen attempts prior to that, and I smoked both ciggies and weed for over 20 years.

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago

Nice one ! That's a big deal

[–] calhoon2005@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago

right on, that's really positive. it took me at least 7 or 8 tries to quit (smoked for 15 years, at least a pack a day for most of it, but rolled my own so who knows really...), but it stuck on the last try and i haven't smoked for 15 years. don't beat yourself up too much about the cravings or if you slip at all, just give it another try, it'll stick. those a-hole-assclowns really make that shit fucking addictive

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

you will cough because you are not getting as much nicotine directly in your lungs and nicotine stops the little cilia in your bronchioles from moving gunk out, so now they are moving again , this is good even if it is uncomfortable at first

and so many hugs and happy dances, smoking is such a hard habit to quit 🏆

[–] Force_majeure1234@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago

I use the lozenges. I've tried the spray and found it too easy to give myself an extra spray (or two), and I felt it gave me a bit of heartburn too. I haven't smoked since in like 5 years or so (aside from very seldom cigarettes bummed off people when I'm out drinking), but I can't see myself quitting lozenges any time soon honestly, but I'm okay with that.

Been trying to decide if my property manager(s) are incompetent or just lowlifes. I think it's both.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 9 points 4 days ago (7 children)

Hi, I'm CEO and I have a crockery problem. I am currently dealing with it but I would like to apologise to anyone who has given me stuff in the past thinking I will use them in good faith. I do love serving bowls but I don't need 10 of them and I don't need the tiny bowls that go with them.

The good news is someone else will appreciate this stuff more than me.

I just gave away half of everything to the Young Seagoons. 👍

Today has SUCKED. Extremely busy and today we rolled out a major process change and it was poorly coordinated and communicated. Combined with extremely busy day... not fun.

Now, food

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 4 days ago (2 children)

If I made protein balls would that be cheating in my no sugar for lentish even though there's a small amount of maple syrup (2 tablespoons) in them?

[–] Force_majeure1234@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Maple syrup is technically a vegetable if you think about it, you're all good 👍

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I thought it was more tree wee.

I’m not religious but sounds like you’re making a healthy recipe, so maybe it’s a fair exemption

I’ve been static buzz so haven’t seen little man to get the paper collar on him. And still need to actually set up the new printer and print the found posters.

Cat rescue options

But I know someone who used to work in cat rescue, and they know someone down my way who is still actively involved. They will be able to scan him on site for a microchip and would be able to trap him if I want to go ahead with that. There are foster homes that completely bypass the danger of the overwhelmed kill shelter. I’ve also passed on his picture to be posted in lost and found groups.

It will be devastating to give him up as well if it comes to that and I haven’t fully decided if that’s something I want to do. Hoping to get him back to an owner while mulling over a name and trying to think if I could foster. I’m just really not okay and don’t know if I can reliably care for him right now. So… decisions. Winter is coming and even with insulated beds I don’t want him out there with his bad chest.

I guess the first thing is to find out whether he’s still owned. Then every decision can flow from there.

TW trauma, mental health

I’m still having intrusive images of Melbcat’s final day and memories of her alive. I hear a little sound and think she’s coming back into the room. I’m unable to finish tasks now. Sleeping all the time and falling into deep depression. I can see it happening.

I’ll foster sweet boy in an emergency if I can get help but feeling absolutely raw and not functioning.

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

No need to pressure yourself into fostering if you’re not ready. If the rescue organisation gets involved, they will find the right person. You will be the right person one day too, to a different cat. After my dog died, I wasn’t ready for another companion for a year. Everyone is different in how much time they need. It’s all normal and you are not alone. Be kind to yourself. You loved Melbcat so very much, of course the loss hurts. Let the grief process happen, it’s okay. And if things do spiral, please reach out to get support. Here, or medical, or irl contacts, whatever you need. Melbcat would want you to.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

You're right. He loves me and follows me around like a dog, but is also a highly energetic young chap while my circumstances require my pets to be exclusively inside. I also feel he needs more hands on deck for his care. My property may also at some point undergo works.

I'll just have to see what happens and choose what's best for him.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

so many hugs

it's normal to have these thoughts and memories

hugs

and you can only do what you can do , hugs

I just went to post my bowel screening test back and realised I forgot to actually put the tubes in the envelope. I actually had the envelope in the delivery slot when I realised, luckily I hadn't let go yet.

The Temu return was much more successful. The dodgy ill-fitting shoes are now out of my life.

Just had a fruitful conversation and maybe I could get a job at barbecue sauce?

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Fuck corner cupboards. I had to basically get inside the cupboard with head down, feel around in there and slither back out. I found relics.

I decided to just wipe the big PC and put Bazzite on there and it has run a treat. Nightreign worked straight away, that was the main reason for the switch. I got crushingly close to soloing Gladius as Duchess. She's a DPS powerhouse

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

There's a few games I miss but I've been really happy with it.

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I was on Mint before and getting bad frame rates in Nightreign. I wasn't happy with Mint's performance overall and found I kept going back to the Windows partition, so it was time for a change. I'm excited to use Bazz on a big PC with some grunt, I've only used it on a laptop with some weird Quaddro graphics card, but it has worked perfectly.

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I've been playing Arc Raiders, Overwatch, Helldivers 2, Borderlands 4 (on Epic via Heroic Games Launcher), Baulders Gate 3, Hollow Knight, Lego LotR and Master of Magic. Mostly Overwatch and some Arc Raiders.

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I notice you're playing a bit of Arc Raiders. It was broken and unplayable on Mint for me, even though I heard it's meant to run well on Linux. I enjoyed playing the server slam and not being able to run it on Linux has been one thing putting me off getting it. That and all the time I've been putting into Nightreign of course, I probably only have space in my life for one extraction style game.

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 2 points 3 days ago

It's run flawlessley on Bazzite for me, but it's a certain mood of a game. I'm playing it less with the re-release of Overwatch which has much more action to it.

I’m off to get some blood drawn

PT really sucks ass.

Left the house at 7:20am and due to "signalling faults" I ended up going back home.

I've been sorting out my spices etc. and some of that stuff has been around way too long - expiry dates 8-10 years ago! I think it's time to toss most of it and buy fresh.

I would also like to question my past self as to why she bought so much of so many different types of salt. I have rock salt, ground salt and salt flakes, all with iodised and non-iodised versions. Plus pink salt and black salt. The only saving grace is that salt doesn't go off. Although the black salt smells like it has and I haven't liked any of the uses recommended for it, so I've made the executive decision to toss that one out. Now I only have 7 different types of salt to manage!
