Prime Minister Mark Carney backed U.S. air strikes on Iran, saying Tehran is the main source of instability in the Middle East and must never be allowed to possess nuclear weapons.

“Canada supports the United States acting to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to prevent its regime from further threatening international peace and security,” the Prime Minister said in a joint statement with Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand Saturday from Canada’s trade mission to India.

Pick the shovel you'll dig your grave with 🪦

Let me explain: they think they're omnipotent, but every war is a risk. All it takes is one war that doesn't go the way they expect (just one) and they lose their position.

To see our Prime Minister support a completely illegal and unjustified war is beyond galling.

Sure, I had concerns about having a central banker for PM, but after campaigning on ‘elbows up’ I didn’t expect a hawkish toadie of the USA.

Between Carney and Poilievre, the better of the two seemed pretty clear and still does. Doesn't mean it was a great choice.

Frankly, I'm surprised we aren't seeing more floor crosses though. If you can choose to be part of a Conservative party in opposition or a Conservative party in government, why choose opposition?

The conservatives in power aren't crazy enough for the Reform Party.

Just didn't think I'd see them do this well.

Leopards ate my face in 3..2..

[–] Routhinator@lemmy.ca 49 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Well Canadians don't support it.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 27 points 2 days ago

I sure don't. Fuck this nonsense

[–] MadMadBunny@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 days ago

I don’t either.

[–] Coyote@piefed.ca 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Disgraceful. Utterly garbage response.

[–] grte@lemmy.ca 39 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Yeah, that's what the US is doing, Carney. Protecting international peace and security. With offensive bombings.

If this motherfucker involves Canadian troops in a yankee war I am going to lose my shit.

[–] PlaidBaron@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

He should be the first one in.

[–] ArmchairAce1944@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

I guarantee you he will.

[–] tootoughtoremember@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago (2 children)

So much for the "rupture in the world order".

Guess that doesn't apply to unprovoked acts of war for the sake of Western hegemony.

[–] sundaymidnight@fedia.io 2 points 1 day ago

They want the oil, it's the cause

[–] sundaymidnight@fedia.io 1 points 1 day ago

this is not important, they can't pay the bills... 🤣

US hegemony is finished (how to pay your bills for your 9999 bases when other ones are replacing dollar in many commercial operations? they can't receive "the US tax" and go down)

[–] Ironfist@sh.itjust.works 20 points 2 days ago

Putting the sign back in the window Carney?

[–] asg101@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago

Every war is a bankers war, Carney is above all else a banker, so of course he is going to support this illegal war.

So much for respect of international law.

[–] ArmchairAce1944@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What's next? Will he say 'you know what? Maybe merging with the US is not a bad idea after all?'

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So he'd be polievre at half stupid, you mean.

[–] ArmchairAce1944@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

I don't know what else to say but yep...

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 17 points 2 days ago

Fuck off, Carney.

If...and that's a big IF...the orange shit-stain had taken the appropriate steps through congress, then maybe you could be standing giving your support. But as it is, this is illegal by ANY standard of the law.

I do not support any military action by the sitting US president at this time. They have extensively outlined a plan to use war as a means to dismantle democracy.

So even if I agreed with the need for intervention, which I don't, the president's office cannot be held accountable to spearhead that action.

Expected for what at the end of the day is a western imperialist.

[–] jve@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Also the beginning of the day.

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 17 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

That's our right-wing PM! Don't worry, it gets worse.

[–] Smaile@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Seems like Israel is the main source at present but Carney forgets the old meme.

The first major issue that I've been 180 degrees opposed to him on. Unfortunate.
