Denver might be the coolest city in the country

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 25 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Definitely one of the coolest cities, Minneapolis ranks up there. It's a competition that you're happy to be in the race.

There's a painting of a Russian doll sort of thing near the art theater downtown and I loved it and it exemplifies the whole Denver experience for me

Edit: this one. It's simulateously cute, cool, complex and timeless. Just like the city.

Imo as someone who spent a paltry 10 days there it captures the vibe of the whole city

I misunderstood the title. I thought they meant Denver police will be ordered to use deadly force against ICE agents to protect protesters. The article says ICE agents using deadly force will be detained by Denver police, not that they will get executed.

Bummer. I was hoping for some semblance of justice.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Oh, shit. I thought that, too.

I mean if ice starts shooting at the Denver police I doubt they’re not going to shoot back

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

still its about time. all ice should have local police follow them around and protect them from themselves.

Given the fact that LAPD refused to enforce a mask ban, I’m not sure how much we can rely on Denver police to detain ICE agents.

The reason LAPD refused is because they don’t want conflict with ICE. The same thing could happen with Denver police.

I also got annoyed my localities did not rip up the roads in front of all ice facilities and finish repairing them when they could and had the funds.

I feel like the White House is doing the bidding of “criminal illegal aliens“, such as Trump‘s wife

Stephen Miller is definitely a criminal illegal alien, Im just not sure what dark corner of the galaxy he crawled out of before stealing some guy’s skin

Fucking do it. Give me hope.

Cops not bastards for this one specific activity? Or are they just lesser bastards? The bastards of my bastards are different bastards?

[–] TacoButtPlug@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

The started as slave catchers. They will always have that as their foundation.

Cops are currently bastards. They don't always have to be. They can work to regain our trust, but it is never freely given. Being a public servant means to serve the public. When they are doing that, and not serving themselves, then they can earn some grace. It will take a very long tome to rebuild trust in the police departments, but if they make the effort to be better, they can rise above their low station and one day not be bastards anymore.
