I had an American history teacher in jr college that taught the civil war was about states rights and we had to buy his crappy right wing history book for class. It was entertaining but it was a bullshit class. I guess I’m lucky that my executive functioning disorder allows me to critically think hard AF. Got my transfer credit

Eh, not necessarily. Here in the States, "conservative History teacher who's only there because he wants to be a football coach" is a very particular genre of guy. Bonus points if he's a military history nerd
our entry into the genre was an english teacher that we had to learn how to push around as freshmen.
I have some childhood trauma from a right wing history teacher.
What happened?
I didn't put the pieces together until years later, but my 7th grade history teacher was literally a fascist who endorsed eugenics. Not disagreeing with your general point though.
As a history teacher, I've met a few who would definitely beg to differ. They're mostly deluded armchair cosplayers or still licking boots from their time in the military.
If you study history intently and don't come to the conclusion that we must continually topple oppressors and promote communal welfare and accountability, you're doing it wrong.
I worked in the south (professor) for quite a while. There are a decent number of historians who I've met who went into the profession carrying the all of their southern baggage into things to eventually come out hard against the same principles later in their careers.
Thank you for all that you do, seriously.
Much appreciated, here, friend. I have tried other jobs/careers and, honestly, I couldn't see myself anywhere else (at least for a while). Definitely a labor of love.
Are they? The current secretary general of NATO is a history teacher and he was also the leader of the Dutch right wing liberal party. He was the prime minister of the Netherlands for 14 years and pushed the country full libtard.
He would probably be counted as left in the us tho
Remember that most Americans don't use the word Liberal like we do - we mean liberal in terms of selling everything off to corporations that will rob us blind while they man liberal as in socially liberal.
Which as an aside goes back to the 1800s more specifically Southern slavers using the term liberal as short hand for basically everyone who wasn't a slaver. This is a rather old dialect difference between American English and British English.
Also as an aside, John Brown did nothing wrong and Sherman didn't go far enough.
Some people just want to watch the world burn
Unfortunately not all e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bj%C3%B6rn_H%C3%B6cke
He's a perfect example of someone who is really into history for the wrong reasons. History should not be glorified, it should be used to reflect what is happening in the present.
But what if I was the fuhrer?
That's how the Caesar in fallout new vegas came to be, isn't it? He was the only one who cared about history and understood the basic concept that history tends to repeat itself so he filled the role before anyone else could.
Yeah, but Edward Sallow deserves that INT 4 in his SPECIAL score.
The mole rat at Quarry Junction has a higher INT score BTW.
Well he doesnt teach history, he teaches fantasy.

I'd say mine were staunchly conservative. Not empire lovers, but very happy to be on the winning side and finding the battles themselves more interesting than the issues leading up to them and happy to swallow whatever convenient excuse aligns with their upbringing ("the communists were killing the intellectuals" (sometimes true) or "the communists were too divided to lead" (often true), etc.)
Gonna guess that you are Spannish? Of at least that is my guess, maybe Portuguese but I don't know anything about Portugal after Napoleon outside of Salazar being a pseudo fascist.
I was lucky enough to get Zinn as required reading when I was still a weird conservative child. History teachers can be great

What is that stamp/acronym btw?
