Well it’s still awkward and a bit fraught. Stupid needle caps coming off way more easily than the stubborn part you actually need to remove.

But I’ve given subcutaneous fluids a couple of times now, unassisted. Definitely need to get a sharps container with a removal port as that will be much easier and safer.

Edit: Zombie apocalypse skill acquired?

Last night, I sat in a $15 Temu hammock on the phone to this boy I keep going on about. We spoke for two hours. I have a fuck ton of mosquito bites today, but I don't regret it.

Check out person rang through the imodium twice when there was only one.

Pointed it out and said that sort of thing almost gives me the shits.

She didn't get the joke :(

I am also unimpressed.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 points 3 hours ago

Sounds like neither of you gave two shits

I haven’t cooked today, that’s something that is exhausting on a good day and almost never happens now.

But I had a small reserve from last time. I let the container of frozen beef broth/puree slowly thaw in the fridge. Then scooped out a semi-frozen spoonful to mix with boiled water to make a more hydrating and comfortably warm serving. The gradual thaw helps the food stay fresh while it gets used up.

Meatloaf in the oven, building blocks for an onion & mushroom sauce to go with chopped & ready. Rice in the mini-cooker. All ready to rock & roll once the meatloaf is half done. I have a deep unfulfilled yearning for meatloaf sandwiches tomorrow. Possibly meatloaf jaffles/toasties too. While making it is messy, at least I can control the spicing and the amount of tomato on the top, which is close to being the best bit. Is there anywhere where one can buy a whole meatloaf? I can't recall ever seeing one on sale anywhere. Or anywhen.

[–] Alamutjones@aussie.zone 2 points 5 hours ago

Some of the butchers at QVM stock them. I pick one up every once in a blue moon, as I like meatloaf but can’t justify making it from scratch for one person

My unfulfilled yearning is for pasta with baked beans. I have the ingredients. I will be sated.

I respect your meatloaf yearning. I don't see it anywhere but I'd definitely buy some if I did. I think this is a gap in the market. Let's discuss a business opportunity πŸ€”

My mum made meatloaf. I know it had sausage meat in it. If you've never had a meatloaf sandwich haven't lived.

You can make it from any mince. Best one I ever made was with duck using shot birds that were too damn old and gamy to roast. Did it up with lots of orange zest and it was very very nice. Rabbit is another fave but buying rabbit meat is pretty expensive nowadays.

A bakery worker who doesn't know what rye is? Colour me unimpressed.

I want to use Google Maps less but because it tracks everyone it can suggest different routes home due to traffic. I just had the most arse drive back from a field day because I used OpenStreetMaps instead. I knew going onto the ring road and off again would suck, but i didn't know where to turn off to avoid it like driving there

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 8 hours ago

I can't do google maps. Garmin GPS all the way. The way she says Geelong Road cracks me up. Long live the Melways.

Ps. The ring road doesn't faze me. I know it inside out.

back home

yes, I have the beginnings of arthritis in my hands

doc thinks it's wear and tear but I'm getting tested for rheumatoid just in case, also some basic metabolic tests to see what anti-inflammatory would be best

but I caught it very early and am getting treatment πŸ‘

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 points 4 hours ago

No good :( I know there is medication to slow it and help the pain, and there are grips that make it easier to hold pencils or brushes 🀞

Hugs my friend πŸ«‚

I suspect I have it in my big toe which I should get checked out. sigh

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 9 hours ago (5 children)

thanks, I can take small doses of aspirin until I get results and a script for specialised meds

and gentle hugs for your big toe , that must hurt very much because it's not like you can walk softer

Tonight my husband and I will be celebrating his promotion and pay rise. At first he thought management were talking about his section but they were talking about the lot. He will be boss of the entire floor. Warehouse and production. Some big name clients there such as AEC and Toyota.

There's gonna be a lot of happy workers and a few unhappy ones. Let the fireworks begin.

Guys, we are now off the poverty line. 🍺

Heck yeah, that’s amazing!

Just had a single giant gust of wind pass through on what is otherwise a very still day. It ripped the lid off a storage box I have outside and sent my fly trap flying. The trap broke open, freeing flies, larvae and the most awful stench imaginable. Mr Woof thought it was great and tried to roll in it. I am much less pleased with it, and its right next to the clothes line and I now don't want to hang up my washing.

Back for something that thankfully turned out to be minor. But that visit really sucked and we’re both exhausted.

We’ve napped and are just resting for now. I’ll make another attempt at fluids when I get some energy. Very grateful someone has gone to grab the electrolytes and broth meat for me

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 6 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Please let us know if we can help.
