I'll miss my HOTAS / HOSAS / SIMPIT / DIY Discord channels starting next month.

Anyone knows some alternative Spaces on Matrix by chance?

I'm aware of the tiny https://matrix.to/#/#hotasdiy:matrix.org channel with 21 members. That's something I guess.

Acronyms: HOTAS = Hands on Throttle and Stick

HOSAS = Hands on Stick and Stick

SIMPIT = Simulation/Simulated Cockpit

That sounds awesome but I don't know if there are enough people for such a niche subject.
I'm into sim racing, and I know !simracing@lemmy.ml exists, but it's pretty empty ๐Ÿฅฒ

Some simracing peeps has a solid Matrix channel going here: https://matrix.to/#/#simracer:matrix.org ๐Ÿ˜

Hanging there for a while. It's interesting because of the similarities.

Mebbe I should compile a list of my own ๐Ÿค”

Sometimes you gotta make the thing you want. Build it, publish it publicly and they'll come.

Nice idea but I'd also not want to add another fragmentation to the table - like e.g. yet another gaming Lemmy groups with ~5 members. That's why I'm asking around :)

In gaming circles, Matrix is to Discord as Lemmy is to Reddit: tiny. You're unlikely to find well-established rooms for niche topics, so you would have to either join an existing barely-used room, or start a new one yourself.

The good news is that, with so many people leaving Discord right now, promoting a small room could easily multiply its population and boost its activity.
