DOJ has now closed this loophole. Last place where these files are accessible is on the torrents. If you can spare bandwidth, please keep these torrents alive.

Dataset9 (149GB): magnet:?xt=urn:btih:5b50564ee995a54009fec387c97f9465eb18ba00&dn=dataset-9_by_fuckthissite3.tar

How much fucked up videos are there?

[–] Tuscy@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But the videos still have redactions in them meaning theyve been doctored. Theyre still ahead because they knew this was gonna happen so its a fake trail wasting all the investigators time with typing mp4 instead of pdf. Fking bullshit. Hold these people accountable already. This is a time trap deliberately set up.

[–] Paranoidfactoid@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Redacting the identities of victims is what the Epstein Act requires. It's all those other redactions for Trump and his buddies that are the problem.

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Clear, and also extremely lazy, attempt to do malicious compliance of file release. These files didn't start as .pdfs. To me, this seems like they were renamed to make it seem like there was nothing to see to the casual and tech-illiterate observer.

[–] bcgm3@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Yeah, I have no idea what the intent was here, but it definitely seems intentional.

Sticking up for visibility. Thanks @CubitOom@infosec.pub.

~~I hope many of you are scraping this as this will not stay up very long.~~

This was included in the zip files of the datasets that were taken down quickly following the big end of January drop. These datasets are still available as zips from the github mirror and torrents.

Be careful randomly browsing through them. There are really disturbing items that can be found here. Be ready for severe levels of gore.

[–] ohellidk@sh.itjust.works 25 points 2 days ago (2 children)

can this data all be quickly scraped before the DOJ closes this loophole?

[–] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 25 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Im sure there have been datahoarders doing that ever since the first files dropped. Its just that you cant easily republish it because it's probably illegal to possess and distribute these videos.

[–] cmbabul@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago

I’ve considered it myself as a data hoarder, it almost seems like a honeypot to me but it is tempting

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I have almost all of it backed up.

Those this include the one shown by OP or only the ones DOJ wanted to share originally?

[–] kingofras@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Which file extensions did you scrape?

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I have all of datasets 1-12.

[–] kingofras@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Does that automatically include the media files of the correspondinging “No Images Produced” pdfs too?

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes. Although, I'm having to do some research right now to figure out how I can speed up indexing. It's a ridiculous amount of data.

[–] kingofras@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Cool. So you would have gotten them from the zips before they pulled them down or from the later torrents?

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I've gotten my copies through torrents and I have seen many "no images were created" PDFs.

I had other things to do today so I haven't tried what the tictoker suggested but I should be able to soon.

[–] kingofras@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Awesome, thanks for fast replys

https://www.justice.gov/epstein/doj-disclosures/data-set-10-files?page=3278

Why don't people just use this file index to find all the non-pdf associated files? I know you won't be able to use search or anything but you can just mess with the page # until you find the file you suspect may have additional file extensions. For example the link I gave shows several .opus files alongside Pdfs.

[–] Shameless@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

People have known about this since the first week they dropped in January. Always good to share for awareness but it's not new.

[–] mavu@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 2 days ago

Just to put that out there, .vob is an option for video file filename endings too didn't see that mentioned in the list, and has anyone tried to randomly increase numbers? If you are that incompetent, I'm sure that will work too.

[–] BlackLaZoR@fedia.io 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

These files will disappear in 3... 2...

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

You spelled archived wrong, people are actively doing that right now..

[–] kingofras@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It would be great to have a written out step by step of this.

  1. Access the Epstein Library of files at https://www.justice.gov/epstein and complete the age verification if asked.

  2. Navigate down to the search bar. Enter the term no images produced and click search. This will produce thousands of results, spread across data sets, that all end in .pdf as the file extension.

  3. Select a file, and open it in your browser. You will see a page that is blank except for the message No Images Produced. This is expected.

  4. Navigate up to the address bar and backspace over the .pdf in the file address, erasing it. Now add ".mp4" in its place. You should now have a full address ending in a filename that looks like EFTA12345678.mp4.

  5. Press enter to retry the address with the .mp4 video extension, and see what you get. You should now see a video of some kind.

  6. If you do not see a video, and you know that your browser handles video files, try a different video extension, such as .m4v, .avi, etc.

The following extensions have been found for "No Images Produced" files labeled as .pdf in the Epstein Library: mp4, mov, mkv, avi, webm, wmv, mpg, mpeg, avchd, flv, f4v, swf, m4v, ogv, vid, qt, 3gp, amr, csv, m4a, mp3, opus, pluginpayloadattachment, ts, vob, wav, xls, xlsx

Note: You can also download the .pdf file to your local machine and do the name substitution locally, it works the same way.

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I think a lot of these files are old, so after .mp4, .m4v and .avi you should try older formats like .mov.

EDIT:

Excuse the Reddit link, but here is a post about it.

Summary of confirmed existing/used extensions to try:

("mp4", "mov", "mkv", "avi", "webm", "wmv", "mpg", "mpeg", "avchd", "flv", "f4v", "swf", "m4v", "ogv", "vid", "qt", "3gp", "amr", "csv", "m4a", "mp3", "opus", "pluginpayloadattachment", "ts", "vob", "wav", "xls", "xlsx")

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Excellent, thank you. I've added them to mine, let's see what @kingofras does with it. I have written so many step-by-steps in my life that I just cranked it out upon seeing the request. I didn't actually put a ton of effort into it or I'd have at least looked up a better list of extensions; you went a step further than that and got a confirmed list specifically for these files. Thank you for taking the time to do it right!

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space -3 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Given the likely contents of the files, and the fact that CSAM possession is a strict liability offence, that’s probably not a good idea

[–] Railcar8095@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

"What they are doing is legal and there's no reason to investigate, but of you download the video of CSAM"

It's the kind of mental gymnastics I expect from Trump and his minions

Meanwhile, apparently the DOJ has said files, sooo..... 🤔
