Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

I dunno, personally, I think I've stopped letting things work me up.

The only things that seem to get louder are my joints and back.

Not true.

Your ass gets looser over time. Get old enough and they're all silent but deadly.

[–] skeezix@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Your ass doesn’t get looser over time unless you’re doing something to it or with it

Don't poop, I guess. Especially if you regularly hold it for 3 days.

and young people are idiotic amoral cunts

until they grow up

do you see a pattern?

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 1 hour ago

I'm afraid I don't. Could you explain the pattern?

[–] itsathursday@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

For a post about farting this is definitely a shitpost.

[–] SolidShake@lemmy.world 37 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Not me. As I gotten older I've actually somehow managed to give less fucks about what other people do with their lives. Shits not my business

[–] Hudell@lemmy.dbzer0.com 23 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

No, I fart louder by choice.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Can confirm I ain't got time to hold in a fart.

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 11 hours ago

Tell me about your sneezes.

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org -2 points 12 hours ago

William James might suggest that this is just cognitive bias.

I never farted quietly when I was younger, I'm not about to start now!

[–] BilboBargains@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

I will concede the farting.

[–] Cherry@piefed.social 1 points 8 hours ago

TBF no one gets younger so this must apply to pretty much anyone …

[–] Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe 4 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Have you gotten older? How many "older" people have you interviewed to come to this assumption?

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org -4 points 11 hours ago

I've not gotten older, no.

[–] sin_free_for_00_days@sopuli.xyz 7 points 13 hours ago

I've had the opposite experience. Old people fart all the time and just don't give a shit. Unless middle age is what you mean by "older", in which case I agree.
