I've never hated anyone to the degree I hate trump, but I'm not sure the OP is accurate. What she said is:

So it's pretty clear she's talking about Trump. Not that I disagree with her.

There is another universe where the Democrats embraced communism, staged a coup and established Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism. Naturally conservatives hate it, and so in the spirit of pluralism, the government deported them to a universe where conservatives have power.
If you were able to separate out conservatives and progressives entirely and form two distinct societies, I suspect each one would then separate into conservatives and progressives. The wedge issues would just be birth control and otherkin rights (or something) instead of abortion and trans rights.
