Between this and hiring known sexual harasser Teruyuki Kagawa, I think this is the first time I'm not even considering playing a Yakuza 
I'm reading they cut 70% of the substories?! Do they have a history of adding them back in via updates/DLC at all? That sounds awful. Did the other Kiwami games do this?
They also removed the Revelations feature, which is when you learned new moves by taking pictures of wacky events. Looks like this game might possibly be shorter than the original 3, which was already one of the shortest games in the series, and it's not even being sold at a reduced price like Gaiden.
The only time they ever did something like this was adding a handful of new side cases to Lost Judgment iirc. The remakes have always cut a lot of content from the originals, but this is a new low.
K1 mostly just trimmed out some filler substories, but K2 had some substantial changes to the story and cut out an entire small extra city along with 2 huge minigame substories (the host club was completely cut, the hostess club was reworked as a rehash of Yakuza 0's minigame with a completely different plot). Neither was as egregious as K3 though.

I lost faith in them after IW and Gaiden but replacing a main character with an actual sex pest and trying to justify it is fucking vile.
Yup it's a big reason I've been checking out from the series since I, main games lost the sauce and everything of this kiwami 3 I keep hearing makes me glad I played the original blockuza
3 was a flawed game but it had a lot of heart to it, particularly the remaster which added this substory and trashed a shitty transphobic one.
Everything about this remake screams "shitty cash grab" and completely undermines everything that made the franchise and Y3 in particular what they are.
The recasts are horribly out of place, don't fit their characters at all, and of course one's a sex pest.
Apparently the writing in the biker gang thing and most new substories are so bad and out of place that it's almost on par with the original Y1 English dub. Speaking of, the game cut out 3/4 of the original's substories. Murder at Cafe Alps is gone too, and the bounty hunting sidequest is now incredibly dull and generic.

how they completely retconned the ending so Mine lives, joins the Daidoji, and stops Hamazaki from stabbing Kiryu. It's like some sort of shitty fanfiction
And on top of all that the combat is just absolute ass. Button mashing wins fights, instant lock-on with everything, disjointed kits with no combos, throw it in the trash.
Series completely felt apart after 7, but this is a new low.
I didn't know how they were going to excuse having Kagawa in the game, but "actually, we cast the sex pest on purpose" was not on my list of excuses for sure.
Both the director's cut of 0 (possibly one of the most inane uses of the term "director's cut" ever, Toshihiro Nagoshi was the director and he's not even at Sega anymore) and Kiwami 3 have plot changes to the extent that would make George Lucas blush, I don't get the obsession with the Daidoji tbh.
The Daidoji as a concept should've been introduced and ended with 6. It quickly became such a dogshit plot device in nearly every game since.
You can pinpoint the exact moment in this franchise that Nagoshi left lmao
FUCK. That was one of best substories and she was modeled after an IRL transgender model too no? Not to mention it seems like 89 substories are being gutted?
