Rules (2024-08-30)

  1. This is an English-language community. Comments should be in English. Posts can link to non-English news sources when providing a full-text translation in the post description. Automated translations are fine, as long as they don't overly distort the content.
  2. No links to misinformation or commercial advertising. When you post outdated/historic articles, add the year of publication to the post title. Infographics must include a source and a year of creation; if possible, also provide a link to the source.
  3. Be kind to each other, and argue in good faith. Don't post direct insults nor disrespectful and condescending comments. Don't troll nor incite hatred. Don't look for novel argumentation strategies at Wikipedia's List of fallacies.
  4. No bigotry, sexism, racism, antisemitism, islamophobia, dehumanization of minorities, or glorification of National Socialism. We follow German law; don't question the statehood of Israel.
  5. Be the signal, not the noise: Strive to post insightful comments. Add "/s" when you're being sarcastic (and don't use it to break rule no. 3).
  6. If you link to paywalled information, please provide also a link to a freely available archived version. Alternatively, try to find a different source.
  7. Light-hearted content, memes, and posts about your European everyday belong in other communities.
  8. Don't evade bans. If we notice ban evasion, that will result in a permanent ban for all the accounts we can associate with you.
  9. No posts linking to speculative reporting about ongoing events with unclear backgrounds. Please wait at least 12 hours. (E.g., do not post breathless reporting on an ongoing terror attack.)
  10. Always provide context with posts: Don't post uncontextualized images or videos, and don't start discussions without giving some context first.

(This list may get expanded as necessary.)

Posts that link to the following sources will be removed

Unless they're the only sources, please also avoid The Sun, Daily Mail, any "thinktank" type organization, and non-Lemmy social media (incl. Substack). Don't link to Twitter directly, instead use xcancel.com. For Reddit, use old:reddit:com

(Lists may get expanded as necessary.)

Ban lengths, etc.

We will use some leeway to decide whether to remove a comment.

If need be, there are also bans: 3 days for lighter offenses, 7 or 14 days for bigger offenses, and permanent bans for people who don't show any willingness to participate productively. If we think the ban reason is obvious, we may not specifically write to you.

If you want to protest a removal or ban, feel free to write privately to the primary mod account @EuroMod@feddit.org

Members of the previously unknown neo-Nazi group called National Front Fædreland are making plans to take over power in Denmark, purchasing weapons and committing murders, while sharing a steady stream of Nazi propaganda and hateful messages, images and videos.

"They express a desire to take over power in Denmark. In one of their videos they say: 'Look at Mussolini and Hitler, they were ridiculed in the beginning, they had no power, but then they took it.' They then use that to say, 'look, we can also take over power, even if we are ridiculed,'" he adds.

In other messages, one member of the group mentions, among other things, that he wants to purchase weapons, while another expresses a desire to kill immigrants and homosexuals, and he also tries to get the other members to kill a specific Danish-African woman.

Another member requests videos from the Bondi Beach terrorist attack in Australia last year because he would like to see Jews shot and killed, while a third says he was allegedly arrested by PET for allegedly planning an assassination.

Dane here. I just want to say that BT is one of our gossip magazines. Until this news comes from a reliable source, don't read too much into it.

[–] CAVOK@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago

Didn't know. Thanks for the extra info.

[–] NorskSud@lemmy.pt 15 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Hitler and Mussolini were also ridiculed in the end. People should read the entire biographies.

[–] ProdigalFrog@slrpnk.net 2 points 11 hours ago

I'd highly recommend anyone watch the show Mussolini: Son of The Century, which incredibly skillfully shows how Mussolini and his fascists came to power. The US is following the same playbook.

That's what the Danish nazis are saying as an argument to not fear ridicule, I just pointed out that it wasn't just at the beginning.

[–] in_my_honest_opinion@piefed.social 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

My comment was a "yes and" to add context not trying to discredit or correct your statement. Sorry if it came across that way.

[–] NorskSud@lemmy.pt 2 points 1 day ago

No worries, I was just lazy to put that quote on my text to make it more obvious.

[–] abbadon420@sh.itjust.works 45 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I'd be interested in finding out who's (suddenly) funding all this.

[–] towerful@programming.dev 29 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'd be interested in seeing end-to-end details of the entire funding pipeline.
But it's pretty obvious. America and Russia.

(Older, but it's stupid to think anything has changed. Maybe reduced cause of Russia's fucked economy).

No doubt none of these specific links have concrete evidence. I'm sure I searched for what I wanted, and found what I want. No doubt influenced by the echo chamber in which I live.

Like I said, I'd love to see the evidence.
But I have no doubts that America and Russia are interfering with European politics.
It seems stupid to think otherwise, considering how vocal Musk has been about the subject.

It's exactly this. FSB build the networks for the US to fund. They tried it in 2017 but there were too many "adults" in the room. I'm wondering if Mossad is playing middle man between the two agencies so they can save face.

[–] RockBottom@feddit.org 2 points 1 day ago

Meddling‘s end goal is chaos, as multiple evidence proofs. The allies were quiet every time, now it hits them.

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 38 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Amazing how many fascist orgs and influencers just suddenly have all the money they could ever want.

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I don't think there is any connection. What reason would the elites of the world have for funding authoritarian groups in every country and manipulating the algorithms to support such a push? What would they gain? Surely you must have thought this through a bit. There is just no upside for them, like better control of the levers of power or blind obedience of the masses, which would definitely NOT happen under fascism.

It's kind of a silly thing to imply, really.

[–] Anonymaus@feddit.org 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

You forgot to add /s

[–] vandsjov@feddit.dk 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The elite don’t like the “socialist” countries as it’s much harder to exploit the people. They hate the EU as it has the economic power to put rules and regulations up, that limit the amount of money they can make. And all of these companies have one goal: to maximise profits. So, they might not be directly facist but if the EU was to be broken up, they could more easily get s bigger profit.

And if you don’t think some of these companies are controlled by people that think this way, you’re naive.

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Twas sarcasm.

I know very well how culpable the business elites are in the whole sale rape and slaughter of our world.

[–] vandsjov@feddit.dk 1 points 12 hours ago

Thank god! I have seen too many weird ways of brushing off stuff like this, that your comment was kind of normal. Now in hindsight, it is obvious.

You got down voted because the Internet can't do sarcasm anymore, apparently.

[–] biofaust@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Mussolini was used by the industrial complex. That's how he got power.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

expresses a desire to kill immigrants and homosexuals

I wo der why that is. You want to murder somebody, end their life, because you disagree with how they use their peepees, or if they look slightly different from you.

I mean, it's such a sad thing to hate people, but hate people for these bizarre reasons is just... Weird. Why do you care what I do with my dick?

[–] plyth@feddit.org 3 points 1 day ago

Ridicule doesn't help. In the same way MAGA can't be understood by wondering why people want or don't want an orange leader. It's not the orangeness, it's not the peepees. And with Fascism as an extension of Capitalism, it's not only an individual thing.

[–] hperrin@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

Cuz muh biiiible sez gay sex bad. 🤡

[–] Kyrgizion@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (3 children)

It's pretty obvious from where I'm standing that a far right takeover of Europe is also on the horizon and there is nothing we can do to stop it. There is so much power and money behind these movements, and they only have to succeed ONCE, where we have to succeed EVERY TIME in order to keep our protections.

It won't last though. We're going the exact same route USA is going, just slower and more splintered. But the end destination is the same.

[–] plyth@feddit.org 7 points 1 day ago

there is nothing we can do to stop it

It's propaganda. The truth can break its power. But it hurts, because the EU was ok with regime changes and parts of it still are.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 day ago

The USA has declared its intention to fund and foster far-right politics in Europe. We're seeing this start to become more evident now.

[–] linule@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

“Nothing we can do to stop it” and “it won’t last”, how does that work?

[–] vandsjov@feddit.dk 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It works this way: We can’t stop the EU turning right, the EU as we know it won’t last.

[–] linule@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Are you European? I rarely see Europeans using that weird dramatic defeatism style

[–] vandsjov@feddit.dk 1 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Yes, European, but no, I'm not that defeated yet (just roughly told how I understood the other comment), however I do worry that we're going to see a bigger shift to the right in general and I believe that the biggest cause is outside pushing.

[–] linule@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

If we “see” like watchers of a movie, we indeed will “see” things unfold unhindered.

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Almost certainly- they’re on a danish server and regularly comment in danish.

[–] in_my_honest_opinion@piefed.social 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Look ACAB of course. But what are the Danish police doing about this?

[–] biofaust@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

The police in Denmark is equipped with Palantir's Gotham. Minister of Justice Peter Hummelgaard is Thiel's bitch (the one who said we should give up the impression that people are entitled to encrypted private communication). If anything, I am expecting them to help.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah acab acab acab but can somebody please call the police on these guys?

This is about as prime an example as it gets with these "abolish the police" types. Maybe you won't go as far as "abolish" yet but then the first A in ACAbB doesn't make sense

Look, any civilized society NEEDS police because you'll always hate anti social types that will ruin shit for everyone else.

The current problem with police (mostly in the USA, far FAR less in other countries) is that they barely receive training and there is very bad screening on who would be a good police officer, and not an SS brownshirt. In the US they dropped the pretence and went straight for "thug" buy y'know, you can just screen on that, educate them, and then you'll end up with actual police officers

Also, drop the "cop" thing. Police officers aren't supposed to be cool, they need to protect and serve, period. The "Imma good cooaaaapp" stuff annoys the fuck out of me. Of police officers really were that great, fine, but they're the worst.

[–] in_my_honest_opinion@piefed.social 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Um no? It highlights exactly why the police need to be abolished. They're currently doing fuck all to stop it. Take your centrist bullshit elsewhere.

[–] CAVOK@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

How do you know that the police isn't trying to stop it?
