For sure. CFNY (the spirit of radio) out of Brampton, then Toronto, used to play it regularly. Still earworm it often.
As it was, the song introduced the word "Creole" to me, which is interesting itself.

Sure thing. Also, they had a big hit in the Netherlands with 'Oh Annie, I am not your Daddy', which I still sing when cooking. Before that Kid Creole had a few hits in the Dutch Top 40 with Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band in the 70s like 'Cherchez la Femme'. They got sampled a lot too.
Today I Learned that Kid Creole from Kid Creole and the Coconuts is not the same person as Kidd Creole from Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.
huge revelation for me!
Oh absolutely, especially on TBS' Night Tracks 🫠
I am absolutely ancient
MuchMusic totally had the Endicott video in heavy rotation, but with Christ(opher Ward) as my witness, I didn’t know they had another “hit”. For the longest time, I was sure they were CanCon…sooooo, apparently not.
