Boycott US

Overview:

The community dedicated to boycotting the US until they stop fascism, restore full democracy and start following international law.

Americans have a moral obligation to resist Donald Trump and project 2025 at every turn.

America is a flawed democracy currently being ruled by oligarchs. Stop the backslide! Dont let America become the next Hungary.

America needs to challenge the court rulings of citizens united v. fec and shelby county v. holder, protect the media, implement independent district drawing, and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

Anti Consumerism is the best way everyone can fight this.

Stop all subscriptions like Netflix, Disney, Hulu, Prime, cable, YouTube, Spotify, iCloud, ….

Stop buying new clothes, stop buying new shoes, stop buying new phones, new computers, new yoga pants, ...

Stop consuming.

Buy the necessities only: groceries, laundry detergent, soap, toothpaste, etc.

Don’t eat out, don’t order delivery.

Stop feeding the oligarchy.

They will break quickly.

I've been doing all of that for years, what else you got?

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah me too :[ I only break that rule around Xmas. Weed and indie video games are the bulk of my spending outside of mortgage and groceries.

Idk how I can not spend money harder.

I guess the next step is growing food for yourself and your neighbors, installing solar panels (its spending money, i know, but it reduces the money continuously flowing up, so its a win if you ask me).

And for those of us that are in rental locations that cannot do this… idk. I've been sitting on this for a while with no good ideas.

Me too, i wrote that but i live in a small rented appartment. Im thinking about growing basic stuff like basil, rosemary, lemon balm. Its nowhere close to growing actual food, but its something.

Smash some windows in corporate HQs?

WTF, I've been doing this for years. I buy a new pc every 10 years, shoes when you can see through them and clothes when mothers start covering their children's eyes as I mow the lawn.

mothers start covering their children's eyes as I mow the lawn

I told you Daisy Dukes and Croc's were a terrible choice for lawn work!

[–] lemonySplit@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They are the only choice in my household

[–] regedit@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

Wall-to-wall of daisy dukes and crocs for as far as the eye can see!

The only thing on your list that I regularly do is order take-out, from small, local, mom & pop places. I already avoid fast food and chain restaurants. But my local Chinese restaurant isn’t part of the oligarchy, and I walk there to pick up my orders, so I see no reason to avoid them.

It is yes.

Hopefully this one day shows what a full general shutdown can do.

Tryna convince the parents at my wife's school, but they poorer than us. It's a "lock the copy room or parents will take the paper" district which pisses me off. First, I know someone who would gladly donate like ten grand of paper if they just asked. I think they just stingy

Thanks, friend!

There may also be a government shut down on that day, until Trump gets his way.
