a hacked switch can run linux. as for the steam deck running the switch UI, i'd imagine its just a screenshot
I know it's slower, less practical, or simply not possible, but I wish more emulators would let me use the original UI of the system that's being emulated instead of booting straight into the game. PCSX2 is one that comes to mind, I can choose to boot into the bios and hear all those nostalgic PlayStation 2 sounds again!
I don't think switch emulators have this feature :(
If I remember correctly it's because console corps can more easily do takedowns if you're distributing BIOS files, and that means needing to get them elsewhere which can be a hurdle for using them. I do wish there was an option to play a video before launching a game so I could just drop in a recording of the boot animation for nostalgia though…
Yes, but making an optional checkbox that allows you to upload your fully legal, self-procured BIOS files would go a long way
Put up a bounty high enough and someone will I'm sure
Emulating the real one will be a hard work, but replicating the UI must be possible.
damn I miss the gamecube menu sound
Nah, every switch emulator can boot the switch OS just fine, but 90% of the features dont work properly when accessed through the OS.
So this screenshot is legitimate, and I believe you can launch the game using this method, but none of those other buttons work properly.
’d imagine its just a screenshot
probably some emulator
