This is a place to share greentexts and witness the confounding life of Anon. If you're new to the Greentext community, think of it as a sort of zoo with Anon as the main attraction.

Be warned:

If you find yourself getting angry (or god forbid, agreeing) with something Anon has said, you might be doing it wrong.

man this stuff was funny back in 1997

It's funny how many "Linux bad" memes seem to think everything's done through the CLI

[–] Zamboni_Driver@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's funny how linux users can't scroll past a Linux bad meme without achtuallying

[–] CancerMancer@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Name something you care about. Now be honest: do you scroll past everything that spreads misinformation about that thing?

[–] Zamboni_Driver@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago

True, if there was a post on greentext declaring that your mother hates butt sex, I would feel the need to step in to correct that.

Yeah... Except it kind of is. The moment you want to do something slightly off the beaten path you're stuck using CLI. Linux isn't bad but I wish people were more honest about the experience, lol.

No more so than modern Windows.

Powershell commands to allow you to even make an account

Powershell commands to remove the spyware

Powershell commands to remove gamebar bloatware

Powershell commands to activate windows

etc, etc.

Absolutely more so than modern windows, problem is, linuxes "beaten path" is shoulder length to either side, windows has an almost two lane highway before you get there

[–] rain_worl@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

windows is shoulder length too, its just that when you go off the beaten path on linux you have to walk through grass, and perhaps far enough dense trees, while windows is a shoulder length bridge where you have to invent flight to go past the sides

batch is crawling on top of the railings, vbscript is hanging off of them, and regedit is just jumping off

If I could figure it out as a non English speaking 9yo back in 1987, you can too Anon. I believe in you!
