Overview:

Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

I hope it totally crashes and wipes Elon's fortune in the process

Apparently in Denmark, 45% of Model Y's coming in for their first inspection, after two years, are failing

It’s the worst car ever for TüV inspections in Germany.

Just beating out the second worst vehicle ever, the Model 3.

Interesting typo. Incorrect word bolded by me. (I think page was in English, so not a "local translation issue".)

I enjoyed one pedal driving more than anyone, but I do make an effort to use my brain regularly. You don’t want to have a problem with them when you actually need them.

Thank you for pointing out the article.

It's almost like he predicted it. I took this old photo of him and a stock image of "stocks crashing" and wouldn't you believe it lines up perfectly.

Wait, what? Fascism is bad for business? Who would have thought?

Sadly, it is not bad for business. Tesla is failing because they're shitty cars that overpromised features they'd never be capable of. He should be in jail for fraud, but we do not live in a just world.

No. They're failing because fascism.

They're mostly fine cars, with a few Elon-caused exceptions. I'll be sad to see EVs as a whole, which were poised to replace ICE cars, fall back out of popularity while we go back to burning oil.

Maybe this admin will act recklessly one week and decide we need to bring in BYD. It could be worth it to cede all manufacturing capability in the West in order to get rid of burning oil.

I was looking forward to parking garages not smelling like exhaust.

For some reason US manufacturers can't make a $35k EV.

For some reason US manufacturers can’t make a $35k EV.

But other car manufacturers can and do so. They can be bought outside the US and are a huge reason why Tesla is struggling so badly. It is not just China as well, but also Hyundai and European companies. The only reason Tesla is still doing well, is that Trumps tariffs protect Tesla from those non US competitors.

[–] artyom@piefed.social 1 points 1 month ago

Chevrolet sells a $35k one and a $28k one.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world -2 points 1 month ago

And I own one of those because fascism, not because of price. I assure you it was more expensive than a Tesla, before Trump and his tariffs.

Not everything has to be black and white. Tesla (and Elon) did some good in making EVs mainstream and common. Now Elon is openly a Nazi. Both can be true.

Self-inflicted wound.

One can hope we no longer see these overpriced garbage on the roads.

[–] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 7 points 1 month ago

This is FALSE! OTHERWISE that Trillion Dollar Pay Package would be looking VERY Suspicious!

The article needs some work.

China will not be flooding Canada with EVs.
In 2024, China sold 41k electric cars to Canada.

The deal lets them import 49k cars at the 6% tariff. Canada buys roughly 1.8 million cars per year.

It was over when he rage-fired the charging network team. It’s been downhill ever since

I look forward to the glorious pyre.

Yes please! They ushered in the EV craze, but they lived long enough to become the villain.
