They were recalled because the level of Capsaicin has caused symptoms of poisoning in younger individuals. A consumer asked the board of food and safety if it was really allowed to sell the strong variants. They looked at them, and measured that they contained even more Capsaicin than the Hot Chip Challenge, which has caused hospitalizations in Germany. Combined with it being a TikTok/Instagram trend to try and eat them, food and safety decided to recall them

I really like the stew ones, x3 were just dumb

This is blown way out of proportion or a bad translation

This article with eyewitness reports tells that a man going the opposite way, across a city square, gives the prime minister a hard shove on the shoulder, and she almost falls over, but avoids to fall. Attacked? Yes. Beaten: No

We recently had a local candy brand advertise that the packaging has gotten smaller, but still contained the same amount. So I guess that they over time had removed enough pieces, that the box started to look suspiciously empty, and they then shrank the box to make it look fuller

"Columbia University’s president, Nemat “Minouche” Shafik, said in a memo to police earlier Thursday that more than 100 people were occupying the area.

"I have determined that the encampment and related disruptions pose a clear and present danger to the substantial functioning of the University," the memo said.

Shafik said the demonstrators were trespassing, refusing to disperse and damaging campus property, among other violations.

In a statement Thursday, Shafik said she authorized police to clear the encampment “out of an abundance of concern” for safety on campus"

It was tents on a lawn, how is that a danger?

It Cory Doctorow

He does a lot of work as special advisor for EFF and also know for the invention of the word Enshittification

He's very anti-DRM, so much that he doesn't sell his books on Amazon, because they refuse to sell them DRM free

He's always worth a listen, for instance on This week in tech

Trains have right of way. Cars do not have right of way at cross walks.

It's not a middle eastern thing, It stems from people in power who don't see women as having any value, except as house slaves/property. Those people try to justify their ideas by pointing to old texts, where other similar minded people have snuck in the notions of women as property or of less value than men.
