Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

I feel a small glimmer of humanity and hope because Liam’s go fund me is up to 265,000 https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-bring-5yearold-liam-home

gofundme being the metric for which people find glimmers of humanity is depressing the fuck out of me.

The funds set up for baddies like Jonathan Ross are even more depressing... Celebrations of evil.

Sorry but it's just another sign of polarization. Half of Americans donate in solidarity, the other half celebrates that another brown person was harmed.

Yet the guy who called Trump a pedo protector got more money way faster.

American priorities are fucking stupid shit.

Fundraising on his behalf collected $810,000 from Tuesday through Wednesday.

Seriously raised twice as much in half the time. What a fucking joke this shithole country is. Some guy in a good paying fucking union job gets money handed hand over fist and he didn't even lose his job he was just suspended and his union had his back. Yet a fucking innocent kid whose rights were viciously violated made half as much in twice the time.

I mean, fuck me, I'm so tired. I'm so tired of expecting better of people.

I guess the silver lining is that TJ Sabula isn't a selfish person and is giving away the money he got to charitable organizations.

The friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is a threat to them.

Spiderman is a much more interesting character than someone like Batman. An innocent ignorant kid that gets powers and thinks the only problem is petty crime and the random mutant villains. The character has room to develop and evolve in different adaptations.

Batman is basically what we'd have if Elon Musk decided to go around at night and beat the shit out of petty criminals for fun because the drugs alone just aren't enough anymore to get him off. The entire concept of a billionaire trying to defeat crime that his very existence causes through inequality is just laughable at this point. Maybe there is a modern adaptation of this in which he becomes a class traitor. That would be the only interesting arch left for Batman at this point. Would be interested if anyone knows a Batman arch like that actually.

Absolute Batman portrays Bruce Wayne as a civil engineer

The amount of people believing that and spreading it in that country is truly disheartening but it tracks with the vote. Tracks with the approval ratings.

Hang in there little one. It's a tough time but it'll be alright. I know he can't read this but fuck man. It's every movie quote... He's just a boy.

[–] wheezy@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 hour ago

It won't be alright. The world watched as thousands upon thousands of children like that were slaughtered in Gaza. That was the testing ground that gave the rulers of our world the confidence to do it elsewhere.

From Sandy Hook to Gaza we all just said things that made us feel better but never enough to risk our own positions to change something. Like we were watching a movie were the words we said mattered.

Actions matter. Stop feeling bad and do something. PSL, DSA, any immigrant rights organizations local to you. We need your help not your sympathy.

Wrong comic book universe. More like El Doctor del Destino Devastador

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Oh I'm talking about the South Park episode. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_Joker
