Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Nobody is going to drop the quote from Orwell's 1984? (sigh) I guess it's true, people HAVE stopped reading. 😞

"‘War is Peace’, ‘Freedom is Slavery’ and ‘Ignorance is Strength’"

[–] IsoKiero@sopuli.xyz 8 points 11 hours ago

Ministry of Truth was at least competent and consistent on their work. Can't really say the same on this clown.

Well, the post was 6 minutes old when you commented it, and presumably anyone who came in during that time was reading the article before posting (right? Everyone does that, right?)...

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 8 points 17 hours ago

I mean in the actual article, you would have thought one of the professionals would have dropped it. 😉

Greenland is Iceland.

Bleach is medicine.

E. Jean Carroll is Marla Maples.

He is so fucking demented. It's obvious his brain is just mush at this point, yet inexplicably he still hasn't been removed from power

[–] ThePyroPython@lemmy.world 19 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

A sock doesn't need a brain to be a puppet, just a hand shoved inside it.

Though that's not a fair comparison; a sock has more functioning braincells.

Yeah, I’d rather have the bacteria in toe cheese running this shit

Fascism benefits billionaires. Or they think it does, at least.

If his body is warm he's usefull to the stooges actually running the show. As soon as he dies the easy train stops. No other Republican has been able to coalesce a base like Trump has.

"Peace is so destructive for everyone. Even countries that aren't involved. I mean, it's so destructive for everyone when you have wars," he told reporters aboard Air Force One.

I assume he intended to say "War" as the first word instead of peace.

He was thinking about his "Board of peace" and the wrong word slipped out.

If you hang out with elderly folks that are slipping, you get used to figuring out the word they actually meant and how the wrong word got there.

Fannie Mae has a commercial out using AI Trump voice because he couldn't record it or something? Very bizarre and Orwellian. Could you imagine the meltdown the MAGA snowflakes would have if Biden had a commercial out like that?

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 9 points 17 hours ago

On the positive side, perhaps he'll get in a muddle and deliver peace with Iceland instead of war with Greenland.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 3 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

But Harris didn't spend enough time during her three month campaign to really let me know that she'd be any better so this really is a failure of the democrats.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 3 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

The downvoters don't understand sarcasm.

[–] timbuck2themoon@sh.itjust.works 4 points 8 hours ago

No that's honestly what a lot of Lemmy people think.

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

A thing like this '/s' helps

I see what you did there. And it was excellent.
