Basic Rules:

Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users, as it handwaves their extremism.

Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post, rather than engaging in arguments that lack mutual agreement.

Brigading — If you're here because this community was linked in another thread, please refrain from voting, commenting, or manipulating the post in any way. This includes alt accounts. All votes are public, and if you are found to be brigading, you will be banned.

Tankies can explain their views, but may be criticised or challenged for them. Any minor infraction of the rules may result in a warning and possibly a temporary ban.

You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically last only 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction doubles the duration. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.

And a bonus, this small comment thread. We're totally not a marxist instance guys but we totally are a marxist instance guys and it's such a good thing:

I can't mentally square how someone could claim their instance is general use, run a general meme community, and also openly state the community purpose is to further specific ideology. Wow.

Nothing against surfacing lesser heard voices, but that's not the place for a generic meme comm (go make a leftymemes equivalent or something), and we all know that isn't what's really going on here.

We don't expect you to be a communist, just think and act like our hyper-specific sect of "communism" at all times or face an immediate ban. Sure.

The irony is that the whole existence of this sub is living proof of how catastrophic their ideas would be if implemented more broadly, and I have no doubt they've educated many lemmings on this fact unintentionally.

Because they mean "please fellate our favourite dictators". They don't actually say that, but that's what they mean. The "voices from the global south" that they're talking about are Putin, the CCP, the Ayatollah and their assorted and equally unsavoury friends.

Lol, if imagining that people are scared of tankies gives you some vague feeling of strength, go right ahead and roll with that. I'm sure you need every small bit of ego boost you can scrabble together.

You're welcome to interact with whatever communities you wish, and like I said I can see some logic in it.

I just don't think it's appropriate for a comm that at first glance appears to be a general use meme community on the flagship lemmy instance, while the very mod pushing this is trying to say that it's still a general use comm/instance. This sort of rule means it clearly isn't general use, there's a focus that should be made loud and clear. Go have your specific focused spaces, just don't try and hide it as a space for everyone then get pissy and ban happy when people treat the space as it initially appears to be.

And we all know that what this weird rant really means is that there's no room for any vague positivity about the US whatsoever, because imperialism is only ok when our team does it.
