The wife and I have been catching up on The Traitors because everyone at work’s been talking about it. For anyone who doesn’t know it’s pretty much the TV show of “Among Us”.

I normally give reality TV a wide berth but we’ve been absolutely gripped. Tonight’s episode was genuinely stressful and it was hard work watching, especially for someone like me who isn’t keen on confrontation. I normally hate shows where people are rewarded for basically being mean to each other but I don’t seem to mind this and I think it’s because the traitors don’t choose to be traitors, rather they’re chosen. I started off rooting for the faithfuls but now I think I like the traitors, they seem to have got some humility now.

I love a bit of Traitors but if you want some truly painful to watch TV then watch season 2 of the Australian version. The faithfuls are all so fucking stupid that they get really easily led over and over and over again by this one guy who isn't even playing a good game. It was genuinely frustrating to watch and pushed past enjoyable because of how stupid everyone was.

This current season of the UK one has been good so far though!

I agree. It's great tv. I got addicted and have now binged it from multiple countries. They are a all a bit different which keeps it fresh.

The concept works well as you see the stress the traitors are under as the series progresses. They are under stress that they may be caught, but also feeling guilt over their actions and how it doesn't align with their personal relationships, or how they use their personal relationships to manipulate.

I think, in part, the reason it works so well is that you are going to be caught or accused of traitor behaviour if you are too aggressive or too passive, sonit encourages people to take action but cautiously, which is a fine line to thread.
