Within hours, however, Trump’s hopes were dashed by the Norwegian Nobel Institute, which said its rules do not permit the passing on of its coveted prize to someone else. A spokesperson told the Daily Beast on Friday: “A Nobel Prize can neither be revoked nor transferred to others. Once the announcement of the laureate(s) has been made, the decision stands for all time. As for the prize money, the laureate(s) are free to dispose of it as they see fit.”

Fuck me! We do NOT need to see that face that close up.

It really warms my heart to think of how rent free Obama winning the prize is in his head. It really gets under his skin and he is trying every way he can think of to get that prize. You know it just steams him all the time.

I almost want them to give Obama a second one just to see if it gives Donnie an aneurysm.

[–] techt@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

The best way for that to happen would be Obama meeting with Zelensky and Putin, brokering an unmitigated success of a peace deal somehow, receiving the Nobel prize for that specifically, then next time he sees Trump giving him a, "You're right, Don; that was easy!" with double finger guns

😂 it would absolutely be worth trying. I mean, this guy is so simple-minded we should be able to use that kinda comic book tactics

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Machado will give him the plaque or whatever the fuck it is they hand out, and we'll see it on his desk with the name taped over and "Donald J Trump" written in sharpie. He's such a child that he'll absolutely believe that's the same thing as actually being selected to receive the prize.

It is always borrowed glory or valor with this guy. He has never earned anything legitimately in his life.. He has fucked over his family, his wives and his kids as well as tons of workers and contractors. Just a walking living iteration of the 7 deadly sins shitbag. Sure thing FATBOY, bombing 7 nations, starving the poor really makes a Peace Prize candidate.

Obviously being selected as a laureate by an actual laureate is the same, or even better perhaps, as recognition by the body as the laureate can certainly recognize other laureates just like alphas all recognize other alphas! 🤮

On the other hand, they are cut from similar cloth, so it means about the same to the rest of the world, surely?

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

Oh, yeah, I mean the prize committee have turned the thing into a fucking joke as it is. It was a farce when Obama got one for simply not being quite as openly pro war as Bush was, and I genuinely cannot even begin to fathom why Machado deserves one.

Jesus fuck. Guys. This is the real reason. Yes, he wants the oil. Yes he wants to depose a leader that mocks him and wants to put in one that will kiss his ass. Yes it will make his political and big oil backers happy... But for real... I think this is what the motive for the entire Venezuela thing was actually about. Trump wants leverage to take the Novel Prize that he thinks should be his. That's it. The rest is just icing on the cake. He'd have wanted to do it even without any other reason. I just... this is the worst kind of fiction. Let me the fuck off this ride.

LOL, it's suuuuuch a shame that they are in another fucking country and out of reach of this asshat's tiny little grubby mitts.

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Wonder what childish crap Trump will pull to "punish" the Nobel Institute?

[–] NoForwadSlashS@piefed.social 15 points 2 days ago

He's going to annex Greenland because he thinks Oslo is in Denmark.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Is there a Nobel War Prize? He's a shoo-in for that!

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

We can only speculate about it's shape, and the speed at which it is delivered to the neck of the recipient.

[–] regedit@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

Same reward Charlie Kirk earned!

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org -2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nice to see Trump squirm like that, but honestly the Nobel Institute should not be throwing stones at him because they themselves are similarly flawed.

[–] 4grams@awful.systems 13 points 2 days ago

Fuck these purity tests. Nobel is indeed a hollow and pointless prize, but let them throw any stone they like, especially when the target is such a fucking baby. We all know what a bullshit prize it is already so might as well just kick back and let them fight.
